Drop on the MIBR win: “I knew we would beat M80.”

After a confident victory over the North American team M80 at ESL Pro League S20, MIBR captain, André “drop” Abreu, shared his thoughts. He noted that he was already confident in the success of his team before the start of the match. What gave the Brazilians such confidence?

The interest in this event lies not only in the fact of victory, but also in the mood of the team, which was at its best. Drop revealed that after the previous win, he joked with the team about reaching the semi-finals and although some responded that “don't do that”, the captain reassured them by expressing confidence in the next win.

MIBR's success

MIBR advanced to the quarterfinals of ESL Pro League S20 where they faced M80. André “drop” Abreu shared that after the previous win, he felt confident that they would go through. The atmosphere in the team was upbeat and despite the jokes, everyone knew they were capable of winning. The Brazilian team showed a strong performance, especially on the Anubis map, where Rafael “saffee” Costa played an important role.

Match details

MIBR confidently defeated M80 2-0, securing their place in the semifinals. One of the key players on the first map was Rafael “saffee” Costa, who showed incredible stats on Anubis, making 28 frags with only 2 deaths. Drop noted that he didn't even immediately notice saffee's contribution until he was informed on the break that his teammate was dominating the server.

According to the captain, saffee showed form that reminded him of his best games for paiN. The captain admitted that he didn't even have to give clear instructions as saffee himself had a great feel for the game and dictated how to proceed. This game was an important step for MIBR on their way to the semifinals.

Drop also noted that saffee feels particularly comfortable playing against North American teams. His understanding of his opponents' style of play and ability to make decisions on the fly proved to be crucial factors in MIBR's victory. “He knows what to do and where to be,” the captain added, comparing saffee's game to donk, who also displays exceptional intuition in the game.

What's next?

This match will be an important test for the Brazilian team, but with the confidence and attitude they are showing, they have a good chance to move on and compete for the title.
