The American and Asian RMR Organizers Directly Violate the Valve’s Rules

RMR tournaments in Mongolia and Mexico do not comply with Valve's rule book.

The portal HTLV.org published an extensive investigation in which they told about numerous violations of Valve’s rules for RMR events. According to the portal, RMR in America and Asia does not meet Valve's standards.

What rules were broken?

The Asian RMR had the most problems with the rules. It is worth starting with the fact that at this tournament, the players had Internet access during the matches and, therefore, access to all the additional information they should not have. For example, the teams could watch all the information about the veto map online. The problem was solved only on the third day of the event.

In addition to the problem with the Internet, it was also noticed that Asian RMR coaches regularly violate the rule of banning interaction with players during matches. And no fines followed after that, and team leaders continued to react to victories and defeats and pump their fists. BLAST is aware of the problem and has notified all trainers about it.

Also, only in Asia were the rules of the game format violated. For example, timeouts lasted 60 seconds instead of 30, and the time after the end of the round was 7 seconds instead of 5. Fortunately, as soon as this was noticed, the rules were corrected.

Both at the American and Asian RMR, the organizers allowed not only pre-registered coaches to stand behind the players but also analysts, as well as other members of the management, about whom there was no mention before. This is a gross violation of Valve's rules because all trainers must be regulated in advance.

In addition to a direct violation of the rules, the American RMR also recorded moments when the coaches' headphones did not work, and the problem was not unique. And that's not all, because there were also long pauses at these tournaments, and impressions of the event as a whole are currently considered negative.

How did it happen?

And now questions arise for BLAST, which conducts all events related to the major. However, it is worth noting that the European RMR looks much better against the background of tournaments in other regions. And this has a straightforward explanation.

Liga Ace has no experience of conducting CS:GO LANs

BLAST outsourced American and Asian events. Liga ACE and MESA are working at the venue, respectively. If MESA is a fairly popular and experienced organizer of tournaments in Asia, Liga ACE has held only two CS tournaments in the history of its existence. MESA needs to gain experience conducting such large LANs, and even more so in working them according to Valve's rules.

BLAST very strangely chose tournament operators to outsource RMR, which raises many questions for the company. We can only hope that BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023 itself will be perfect and overshadow all these problems.
