America on the way to Valorant Champions 2023, Last Chance Qualifier starts tomorrow

Tomorrow, July 15, 2023, at 23:00 Eastern European Time, the first matches of the Americas Last Chance Qualifier 2023 will take place in Los Angeles. This is the last qualifying stage for the Valorant Champions 2023 World Championship.

The tournament will feature 7 teams from North America, Latin America, and Brazil, which belong to the American region. These teams are Cloud9, Leviatán, FURIA Esports, Sentinels, 100 Thieves, MIBR and KRÜ Esports. These teams have the opportunity to compete in the LCQ because they finished the previous Valorant Champions Tour 2023: Americas League in 4th to 10th places, which prevented them from receiving direct invites to Valorant Champions 2023. For 9 days, they will fight each other for the last ticket to the future world championship.

On the first day of competition, there will be two matches. The first match will showcase the clash between MIBR and KRÜ Esports, who have only met once before at VCT 2023: Americas, where MIBR came out victorious. In the second match, Sentinels will face 100 Thieves, who have met 11 times before, with Sentinels winning 8 of those encounters.

What is the Last Chance Qualifier?

As implied by its name, the Last Chance Qualifier is the last chance for teams to get to the main event of the year in the Valorant Champions discipline. This year, out of the 16 places at the world championship, 4 are being contested in the LCQ in three regions. 2 invites are being played out in the EMEA region, which includes Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, and 1 each in the American and Pacific regions. Compared to the 2022 championship, the number of slots has decreased from 6 to 4, the main reason for this is the addition of a new region - China, where 3 direct invitations are being played out.
