Talon Esports is no longer the top LCP team

The first split of the LCP 2025 concluded with a series of surprises and disappointments, leaving a significant mark on the esports community. This tournament became a true test for teams, introduced new names, and altered the balance of power in the region. The expected favorites failed to confirm their status, while newcomers impressed with confident performances.

One of the biggest sensations was the victory of CTBC Flying Oyster in the finals against Talon Esports. CFO, featuring players Driver, Junjia, HongQ, Doggo, and Kaiwing, defeated Talon Esports with a score of 3:1, securing their first title in the newly established LCP league and qualifying for the First Stand tournament. This victory was a surprise for many as Talon Esports had long dominated the region.

Notably, Driver and Doggo's performance was particularly significant, as their experience and skill elevated the team to a new level. Driver demonstrated a high level of play with an average KDA of 13.6, the best in the tournament, and Doggo emerged as one of the top ADCs of the tournament, ranking third in average damage per game with a score of 24.9k.

Biggest Disappointments of the Tournament

The first serious setback for Talon Esports occurred in the second round of the upper playoff bracket, where they unexpectedly lost to MGN Vikings Esports with a score of 1:2. This defeat forced the team to continue their battle through the lower bracket, significantly complicating their path to the finals.

However, the biggest disappointment was the final loss to CFO. Talon Esports, who had long represented the region in international tournaments, could not challenge their opponents and lost 1:3. This was a major blow to fans and the team itself, which was accustomed to dominating the region.

Analyzing Talon Esports' performance, issues in macro play and weak adaptation to the style of new opponents were noted. Statistically, Talon Esports had the lowest win rate in matches where they were behind in gold by the 15th minute. Ultimately, Talon Esports secured second place in LCP Split 1 2025. Whether the region's positions will change with a new representative will be known at First Stand.

Overall, the first split of LCP 2025 demonstrated that even the strongest teams can face difficulties, and new talents can alter the power dynamics in the region. LCP Split 2 2025 will begin on April 1st and last until June 1st, and you can follow the tournament at this link.
