Opafire Gem is a rare resource in Dune: Awakening, primarily used for late-game Landsraad quests. These gems are highly valuable and can serve either as a strategic contribution to your faction’s progress or as a profitable commodity for trade.
There are two main ways to acquire Opafire Gems:
You can buy Opafire Gems on the Exchange in the cities of Arrakeen or Harko Village. However, be aware that prices are often very high due to the gem's scarcity and high demand among players.
The alternative method is to search for buried treasure in the open sands of Arrakis. To do this, you’ll need a resource scanner, which can be either handheld or mounted on a vehicle. While flying or traversing the desert, watch for special icons appearing above the sand these usually indicate potential treasure locations.
Areas with “drum sand” are particularly rich in treasure, but they’re also dangerous, as they attract sandworms. If you locate such a spot, land carefully and use a Static Compactor to unearth the buried chest. Sometimes, you may find an Opafire Gem inside. The best vehicle for treasure hunting is the ornithopter, as it provides a wide field of view and enables fast travel across large sandy areas, greatly increasing your chances of finding valuable resources.
To unlock the Landsraad system and begin related quests, you must first complete a faction-specific quest for either House Atreides or House Harkonnen in the Eastern Vermillius Gap region. Once completed, you gain access to Landsraad missions, which may require Opafire Gems as part of their objectives.
Beyond quests, these gems can also be sold on the Exchange for a significant profit. If you’re fortunate enough to collect several, they can become a valuable source of income.
