The third season of Squid Game — the climactic conclusion of the popular Korean thriller from Netflix—will be released worldwide on Friday, June 27; the time will depend on viewers' regional location. After the tense yet open ending of the second season, the final part will continue the story of Ki-hoon (Lee Jung-jae) and other characters who survived the uprising against the games' host. Unlike the four-year gap between the first and second seasons, the third season arrives just six months after the previous one. This was possible because both seasons were written and filmed back-to-back. Initially, Hwang envisioned them as one large season but later decided to split the story for better pacing and dramatic structure.

Since its premiere in 2021, Squid Game has become Netflix's most popular series, spawning unofficial spin-offs, merchandise, reality shows, and significantly impacting the gaming industry.
