The South Korean studio Shift Up, known for the stylish action game Stellar Blade, is reportedly considering porting the game to the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 console. This was reported by South Korean outlet PlayForum, citing anonymous sources within the gaming industry.
According to the report, the studio has already received development kits for the Switch 2 and is currently evaluating the technical feasibility of the port. However, a Shift Up representative stated in a comment to journalists that “nothing has been officially confirmed at this time.”
With the reports, some began hypothesizing that not only is the developer mentioning Stellar Blade, but they might be mentioning other game projects from the studio. The Reddit communities have even speculated, for instance, that Switch 2 version might have Nikke: Goddess of Victory, a mobile game which already enjoys a large player base.
Meanwhile, GamingBolt reports that the development team has begun internal optimization tests, including visual adjustments and potential use of NVIDIA DLSS technology, in order to ensure stable performance on the new hybrid console.
Stellar Blade was initially a PlayStation 5 exclusive and was later released on PC. The game gained widespread popularity, selling over 3 million copies. Since the rights to the game are owned by Shift Up and not Sony, the developers have more freedom in choosing platforms.
Rumors intensified when reports emerged that some Shift Up employees received a Switch 2 unit as a bonus following the PC release — a gesture that could signal the studio’s interest in Nintendo’s platform.
While these are currently just internal discussions, a potential release on the more powerful Switch 2 seems quite plausible, especially given that the game already runs well on Steam Deck — a portable PC device similar in concept to Nintendo’s new console.
There has been no official announcement yet. If development does go ahead, the release is likely to happen no earlier than 2026.
