Game developer Yu Suzuki, known for his work on the Shenmue and Virtua Fighter series, has announced his new project titled Steel Paws. The game was revealed during The Game Awards 2024 and will be a mobile-exclusive title, set to release in 2025 on the Netflix Games platform.
While specific gameplay details are still under wraps, the announcement trailer showcases an anime-inspired art style. It features the main heroine and her robotic companions readying for battle as a massive arena emerges from the ground.
Players will partner with upgradeable buddy-robots to overcome its challenges. The visual design is already being compared to projects like Mega Man, though the exact gameplay mechanics have yet to be unveiled.
Steel Paws will be available exclusively to Netflix subscribers via Netflix Games, which offers a selection of mobile games at no extra cost or in-game purchases. Currently, specific details of the gameplay remain undisclosed, but the collaboration between Suzuki and Netflix has already sparked considerable interest within the gaming community.
