Sloclap, the developer of popular games such as Sifu and Absolver, has announced its new project — Rematch, an online 5-on-5 football game slated for release in summer 2025.
The game was unveiled during The Game Awards 2024. Rematch offers dynamic matches in vibrant virtual arenas, focusing on skills and strategy. Players control one team member from a third-person perspective, seamlessly switching between roles of striker, defender, and a unique goalkeeper with special abilities. The game eliminates traditional football rules such as fouls and offsides, providing continuous action and dynamic gameplay.
Sloclap aims to capture the essence of football, concentrating it into short and intense matches. The third-person view creates an immersive experience, bringing players closer to the field and the game's dynamics. The game's design encourages teamwork, highlighting the satisfaction of a perfect assist over an individual approach to gameplay.
Rematch is scheduled for release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on Steam. After launch, Sloclap plans to add seasonal content, including new game modes and cosmetic customization options, to keep the game fresh and engaging.
As the release date approaches, more details about gameplay mechanics, beta testing opportunities, and pre-order information will be revealed by Sloclap. Players can already add Rematch to their wishlist on Steam to receive updates and notifications on the game's development.
