Sony has confirmed its next State of Play broadcast, and it’s all about Bond. James Bond. This Wednesday, September 3, PlayStation fans can tune in at 11am PT / 2pm ET / 7pm BST on YouTube and Twitch for a 30-minute showcase of 007 First Light, the upcoming spy thriller from Hitman developer IO Interactive.

The broadcast will feature a full playthrough of Bond’s very first mission as an MI6 recruit, complete with high-octane car chases, stealth infiltration, and all-out shootouts. Once the mission wraps, IO Interactive will also provide additional commentary on their approach to designing “intense espionage gameplay” for this ambitious new project.
Notably, PlayStation hasn’t announced any other titles for this State of Play. That means players shouldn’t expect updates on Ghost of Yōtei or other first-party projects—this show is laser-focused on First Light.
A New Era of Bond
For IO Interactive, 007 First Light marks the beginning of an entirely new Bond saga. The studio has previously confirmed plans for a trilogy of games, introducing a wholly original version of 007 separate from Ian Fleming’s novels or the films. This first installment will serve as an origin story, setting the stage for a fresh era of digital Bond.

The June State of Play tease already had fans convinced that Dexter: Original Sin star Patrick Gibson is stepping into the role of the iconic spy, though IO Interactive has yet to officially confirm it. With Wednesday’s presentation, we may finally get that reveal and perhaps even a release date. For now, 007 First Light is scheduled to launch in 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.
