Almost six months have passed since the release of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, but the game continues to be regularly updated. Recently, the developers from GSC Game World have shared on their official social media what fans of the game will be able to expect in the second half of 2025 and what changes will appear in the Exclusion Zone.
The future of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2
The developers started their address to the fans with a short story about how the game was fixed immediately after the release and how GSC Game World interacted with fans for feedback.
Since the game's release, we've been studying your feedback and aligning it with our own plans and vision to improve and refine the gameplay. The first quarter was dedicated to addressing important issues: two major updates and numerous fixes were released, in addition to last year's patches.
But the game development is not going to stop there. GSC Game World told that the Exclusion Zone is evolving and at the same time the game will receive new features and fixes, and feedback from players will not be lost. In addition, the developers have also released an update map where you can see the progress of the game.
The zone is evolving and will continue to develop. We will be releasing updates and fixes throughout the year to make the game better in all aspects. With proper planning, double testing (internal and closed beta for major updates) of all features and fixes, and your feedback, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl will be the game you deserve. To keep everything clear and on track, we're breaking the roadmap into quarterly updates. Every three months you will receive full information about what is planned for the game.

From the most important points we can note:
- A beta version of the MOD SDK tool, which will allow players to create their own modifications, as well as integration into Steam Workshop and Mod.IO.
- Updates to the game's A-Life simulation and artificial intelligence to make NPCs more responsive and mutants eat corpses.
- Two new weapons.
- Next Gen update of the original S.T.A.L.K.E.R. trilogy.
However, there is no exact release date for each of the future updates. Therefore, fans of the game can only wait for new patches in the second half of 2025.
