Baseball superstar Shohei Ohtani is making history once again, this time in the virtual world. The three-time MVP of the Los Angeles Dodgers will become the first Major League Baseball (MLB) player to appear in Fortnite as part of the prestigious Icon Series. Ohtani's skins, accessories, and exclusive emotes will be available in the Fortnite store starting March 17 at 8:00 PM Eastern Time (ET).

Epic Games officially confirmed the collaboration on Tuesday, announcing that Ohtani will receive several costume variants, including the home (white) and away (gray) uniforms of the Dodgers, a LEGO version for LEGO Fortnite, and a special skin "Samurai Shohei". The latter features a reactive element — after every strikeout, Ohtani's arm will ignite with flames.

Early Access via Shohei Ohtani Cup

Players who want to get the "Samurai Shohei" skin ahead of the official release can participate in the Shohei Ohtani Cup on March 15. This is a solo tournament in the "Battle Royale" mode, where the top players from each region will receive the exclusive skin ahead of others. Those who do not manage to obtain it can purchase this skin in the in-game store after the official release.

Shohei Ohtani Accessories and Emotes in Fortnite

In addition to costumes, Ohtani will bring unique items to the game:

• Decoy Back Bling 
• Trusty Two-Way Pickaxe
• Baseball Batana Pickaxe
• Exclusive Emotes (one of them will show the athlete hitting a ball along with his companion dog Decoy, and another will recreate Ohtani's signature "magic wand" ritual)

Fortnite Celebrates Ohtani's Historic Gaming Season

Fortnite will also release “Week 4 Quests” on March 18, dedicated to Ohtani's unique season when he hit 50 home runs and achieved 50 stolen bases. Access to the quests will last until the end of Chapter 6, Season 2 of Fortnite.

The debut of the baseball player in Fortnite also coincides with the MLB Tokyo Series (March 18-19), where the Dodgers will play against the Chicago Cubs, opening the 2025 season.
