It’s now official: The announcement of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remaster will take place tomorrow at 6:00 PM.The remaster of the cult classic The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is finally a reality — Virtuos has confirmed its involvement in the project, releasing the first images, logos, and technical details. The game will be re-released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, taking full advantage of the Unreal Engine 5’s capabilities.
Thanks to the new engine, the game will receive a significant overhaul in visual style, lighting, and special effects, while preserving the spirit of the original 2006 release. At the same time, the remaster will modernize key elements such as the combat system, user interface, and stealth mechanics. Importantly, the project will remain entirely single-player — without any multiplayer components.
Virtuos, known for their work on Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, describes Oblivion as a hybrid-type remaster: graphics powered by UE5 will be combined with the original Oblivion engine mechanics. This approach is meant to retain the authenticity of the game that became a classic.
After screenshots and logos leaked online, a wave of nostalgia swept across the internet — Reddit users are sharing emotional reactions and jokes. One of the popular comments reads:
"It’s funny that Oblivion now gets a remaster after Skyrim, and Morrowind is still the only 3D game in the series without an update."
The screenshots show significantly improved textures, dynamic lighting, volumetric shadows, and highly detailed interiors familiar to fans since 2006. The torchlight in the dungeons looks especially realistic — a result achieved through UE5’s technology.
For newcomers, this will be a chance to dive into the world of Tamriel and the story of Martin Septim for the first time. For longtime fans, it’s a chance to return to the Blooming Plains and face the Daedric threat once again — now in even higher quality.
Oblivion remake looks BEAUTIFUL.
