New Collaboration
This is not the first collaboration between Nintendo and Lego. Previously, the companies released themed sets based on popular Nintendo franchises, including a block version of the NES. These projects have always combined nostalgia and creativity, becoming popular among collectors and gamers.
It is expected that the new Game Boy project will continue this tradition, bringing together retro gaming enthusiasts and Lego fans.
Community Reaction
The community met the news of a possible LEGO Game Boy release with a lively reaction, filled with mixed emotions. Some users are eagerly awaiting the release, discussing the potential design and cost of the set, while others humorously mention the shortcomings of the original console.
I wish Nintendo would announce a new console this week
Judging by the piece sizes in this teaser, the thing is likely to not be that big. LEGO sets are typically based on the number of pieces, and I can’t see this being more than a few hundred. (1 piece = 10 cents.) Even if it’s around 300 pieces ($30), and you factor in what many call the “Nintendo tax” on these premium Nintendo LEGO sets, it’s still going to be around $50. (Note that this is an HIIIIGHHH estimate.) Honestly, 300 1x1 bricks will likely be pretty close to the size of the original GAMEBOY (maybe a little smaller), but that’s an extreme example. There’s almost no chance this model surpasses that amount. Unless it somehow functions as an actual GAMEBOY (which I highly doubt), I think that price range is probably close.
It would be great if the screen was empty, and you could insert a small Lego cartridge with a sticker of a screenshot showing through the screen.
Nintendo and LEGO are competing to see which of their pricing philosophies will lead to a more expensive Game Boy
This is really cool! Thank you for continuing to surprise us with unexpected Nintendo comments. Here’s to the LEGO Game Boy.
What to Expect from the Announcement?
While the specifications of the set are being kept under wraps, fans are hoping for a detailed design that harkens back to the original gray Game Boy console. Whether interactive elements like those in past sets will be included is still unknown. The release is set for October, which means there's much more news to come from Nintendo and Lego.
