Minecraft Movie Live Event Extended

Mojang has extended the duration of the incredibly popular Minecraft Movie Live Event, dedicated to the movie's release. Players now have until April 14, 2025, at 9:00 PM Eastern European Time to complete all quests and earn the coveted Yearn cape.

Initially, the event was set to end on April 7, but it was extended due to what Mojang describes as "unprecedented demand." This decision is also linked to the astounding success of A Minecraft Movie, which broke box office records for video game adaptations — $163 million in the U.S. and over $300 million worldwide. The film, featuring Jack Black as Steve, hit theaters on April 4.

The event kicked off on March 25 in Minecraft Bedrock Edition, inviting players to a themed arena where they must complete six unique challenges to earn the Yearn cape — a limited edition cosmetic item inspired by the viral line from the movie "Yearning for the mines." Like previous popular capes, this one is adorned with a pixelated face of Jack Black and is available in both Bedrock and Java versions of the game.

How to Join the Minecraft Movie Live Event

To participate, open Minecraft Bedrock and click on the A Minecraft Movie Live Event banner on the left of the main screen. You will be transported to a special event game world, featuring mission-based gameplay, movie characters — including Jason Momoa as “The Garbage Man” — and three mini-games to test your skills.

Tasks include defending the village of Midport from a Piglin invasion and other adventures. Thanks to active community involvement and a blend of nostalgia with new elements, the event is already being compared to last year's Eerie Mojang Office Party — and it has become a true digital celebration in honor of the movie.
