Netflix and Ubisoft have announced publicly that there is going to be a live-action TV series based on Assassin’s Creed. It has been announced on July 17, 2025. It is going to bring the most popular gaming world to TV, where there would be historical events, sci-fi, as well as spy thriller intrigue.
According to Ubisoft and Netflix's official statement, the new series will be part of a larger partnership between the companies. It is described as "an epic genre-bending show" that will remain true to the signature Assassin’s Creed style.
It’s not the first attempt to bring Assassin’s Creed into live-action. There already existed a 2016 film headed by Michael Fassbender that released to mixed reviews. This time around, Ubisoft is going to have greater creative control so that the translation is true to the spirit of its parent gameplay.
Its executive producer for the Assassin’s Creed games, Marc-Alexis Côté, said: "Both newcomers and fans can have an experience that they can enjoy." It also noted that the series would have "new time periods and locations" that are not featured in games.
There is no release date yet. But filming is set to begin sometime in 2025 or 2026. Subscribers should follow the Ubisoft Forward and Netflix Tudum events, where first trailers and casting news might arrive.
