NetEase is continuing to take a measured approach to balancing its hero shooter, Marvel Rivals. The latest patch focuses primarily on bug fixes rather than sweeping meta shifts, ensuring the game remains a chaotic playground for players to experiment with rather than an overly polished esports title.

What’s in the Update?
The update, set to go live on February 6 at 1 a.m. Pacific / 4 a.m. Eastern, introduces new cosmetics and much-needed bug fixes. Players can look forward to two fresh skins:
- Captain America’s Infinity War skin
- Luna Snow’s Mirae 2099 skin
While these cosmetic additions are exciting, the real meat of the patch comes in the form of hero-specific bug fixes, helping ensure abilities work as intended without drastically altering character balance.

Key Hero Fixes
- Venom: His Wild Swing now properly ends, and his Devour ultimate will no longer sometimes fail to deal damage.
- Mister Fantastic: Reflexive Rubber should now deactivate correctly.
- Storm: Fixed issues where her ultimate could place her in unintended positions or end abnormally.
- Moon Knight: Ground visual cues for his ultimate will no longer disappear prematurely.
- Wolverine & Hulk: Their Fastball Special ability now syncs properly for all players.
- Magneto & Iron Man: Magneto’s ultimate now correctly absorbs Iron Man’s attacks.
- Jeff the Land Shark: His ultimate animation now plays smoothly instead of duplicating.
- Loki: His Mystical Missiles and transformation abilities now function properly in unstable network conditions.

Still No Performance Fixes, Though
Despite the helpful bug fixes, players hoping for performance improvements will have to keep waiting. Many users have reported persistent frame drops, crashes, and optimization issues, but this patch doesn’t address those concerns. Hopefully, NetEase is aware of these problems and working on solutions behind the scenes.

A Slow but Steady Approach
Marvel Rivals continues to carve out its own identity by embracing fun and chaos rather than overhauling the game with frequent balance changes. This methodical approach seems to be paying off, as the game’s player base remains engaged and entertained. While some heroes could use adjustments (Hela’s ultimate, anyone?), it’s refreshing to see NetEase resist kneejerk reactions in favor of letting the game breathe.
