Mario Kart World Version 1.1.1 is now Available

Nintendo has dropped Mario Kart Worlds patch 1.1.1, and players can grab it on Switch 2 as of June 17, 2025. The update is compulsory if you want to race online, and it squashes key bugs to smooth out stability and improve network connections.

Key Fixes in Version 1.1.1

Here’s what the new update addresses:

  • Item Usage Bug Resolved: Players can now properly use items during races, a major fix that improves the competitive experience.
  • Character Selection Glitch Fixed: A bug that prevented controls from working when entering Free Roam mode has been eliminated.
  • Crash Fixes: Several crash scenarios, such as watching replays or finishing an online race, have been stabilized.
  • Rate Display Accuracy: Fluctuations in performance rating during Knockout Tour and Online Play are now displayed correctly.
  • Connectivity Issues Improved: Joining friends in “VS Race” or “Battle” is now more stable, with fewer communication errors.
  • Track Glitches Patched: Players will no longer fall through the wall near the finish line of DK Spaceport, or get stuck mid-glide between Airship Fortress and Bowser’s Castle.

How to Update

If your Switch 2 is connected to the internet and has Auto-Updates enabled, the update will download automatically. To manually update:

  1. Connect your console to the internet.
  2. From the HOME Menu, highlight Mario Kart World.
  3. Press + or – to bring up the options.
  4. Select Software Update → Over the Internet.

Before you jump online, double-check that everyone in your lobby is on version 1.1.1- thats the only way to avoid connection hiccups.

The patch wont touch your save files at all, but remember you'll need a Nintendo Switch Online subscription to use any of the games online modes.
