Official: League of Legends and Valorant partnering with Coinbase

On May 6, Riot Games announced a partnership with cryptocurrency platform Coinbase. The company will become the exclusive crypto exchange and blockchain technology partner for international VALORANT and League of Legends esports events, starting with VCT 2025: Masters Toronto on June 7.

As part of the deal, Coinbase will support fan-facing initiatives across both games. This includes broadcast segments, in-person activations, hospitality programs, and giveaways — all of which will be integrated into future tournaments.

Earlier this year, Riot Games fined Team Liquid $4,000 for wearing unauthorized jerseys featuring the logo of their cryptocurrency sponsor — reportedly Coinbase. Riot cited a violation of section 8.2 of the VCT 2025 Global Policy. Liquid had been warned in advance that the jersey design had not been approved for use during VCT EMEA matches, according to a league communication dated January 6.

Coinbase has prior experience in esports, having previously collaborated with Team Liquid and supported crypto education content across major broadcasts. With the new deal, Coinbase’s involvement will extend to official Riot Games events worldwide.
