Square Enix officially canceled Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link on May 14, 2025, the action RPG that had been in development for both iOS and Android and used GPS. First revealed in April 2022, the game had already been pushed back several times and had most recently been pushed back indefinitely in November 2024.
In an official announcement, the company revealed that due to the efforts of the development team as well as a number of closed betas, they realized that the game could not provide a long-term and satisfying experience for players. Therefore, the company decided to cancel the project.
The news quickly spread across gaming forums and social media, sparking a wave of reactions from longtime fans and mobile gaming enthusiasts alike:
Despite this setback, Square Enix confirmed that the Kingdom Hearts series will continue. Development of Kingdom Hearts IV is still underway, and the company encouraged fans to stay tuned for future updates.
The cancellation of Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link comes as an unexpected blow to fans. However, with Kingdom Hearts IV still in the works, there’s plenty more for the community to look forward to.
