Hatsune Miku will appear in Fortnite in January

Epic Games has confirmed the long-awaited appearance of virtual pop star Hatsune Miku in Fortnite — her debut is scheduled for January 14, 2025. After months of rumors and sources, fans can finally expect cosmetics, music tracks, and exclusive skins dedicated to Miku as part of the upcoming Fortnite Festival season.

Notable insiders, such as ShiinaBR and FNBRintel, had previously hinted at Miku’s appearance in the game. But the first official confirmations regarding the Hatsune Miku x Fortnite collaboration recently surfaced when the official Hatsune Miku social media account posted about a "missing backpack," to which Fortnite Festival responded with a cryptic message that the backpack is "kept backstage." This playful exchange effectively confirmed the partnership between Epic Games and Crypton Future Media, which owns the character Hatsune Miku.

Release Date and Hatsune Miku Skins

The release date — January 14 — coincides with the start of the 7th season of Fortnite Festival. In this season, Miku will become the main symbol of the festival, significantly boosting the mode's popularity.

Players will be able to acquire two unique Miku skins:

  • Hatsune Miku (Music Pass): Available through the Festival Pass for 1,400 V-Bucks.

  • Neko Hatsune Miku (Item Shop): Sold separately in the Fortnite Item Shop, although the price is not yet disclosed.

The skin from the Festival Pass will remain exclusive for 18 months before appearing in the Item Shop, providing an extra incentive to purchase it earlier.

Leaked Cosmetic Items and Songs

According to leaks, the collaboration will include four alternate styles for the Hatsune Miku skins. Additionally, her Back Bling accessory will sync with Jam Tracks music tracks integrated into the gameplay.

The updated playlist is expected to include popular songs like "Miku" by Anamanaguchi and "Daisy 2.0 Feat. Hatsune Miku" by Ashnikko.

Other expected cosmetics include emotes, gathering tools, and character-themed accessories, although Epic Games has not yet published a complete list.

Fortnite Festival and the "Miku Effect"

Fortnite Festival is a music mode first introduced in 2023, featuring rhythmic gameplay in Fortnite. Although not as popular as the classic Battle Royale, Fortnite Festival has already collaborated with artists like Snoop Dogg and Mariah Carey. Miku's appearance is expected to reinvigorate interest in this mode and help it reach new heights, similar to past music games like Guitar Hero.

The collaboration with Hatsune Miku is yet another example of Fortnite's ambition to expand its universe through unique partnerships. New skins, music tracks, and a potential virtual concert promise to add fresh experiences to the game and further engage players.
