A large information leak about Fortnite suggests that Epic Games is preparing to introduce a range of new features aimed at enhancing competitive gameplay and player progression—possibly including global leaderboards, training arenas, and expanded career profiles.
The information was released by the well-known insider HYPEX, who shared a list of potential features allegedly in development. Although none of them have been officially confirmed yet, the leak paints a picture of a significantly more competitive and personalized future for Fortnite, extending beyond the capabilities of the current Chapter 3, Season 6.
Considering the reliability and confirmation of all the information previously published by this source, there is little doubt that all planned changes will eventually be implemented.
According to the leak, Epic is considering adding:
Change | Description |
Global and Friendly Leaderboards | Allow players to see how they rank against friends and the world. |
Training Modes for Competitive Players | Special spaces to hone skills outside of classic matches. |
Career Profiles | A long-awaited feature to showcase titles, statistics, and progress over time. |
Quests and Rewards for Weapon Mastery | Unlock cosmetics and titles by using specific weapons. |
More Rank Rewards | New motivation for active play in ranked mode. |
New Items and Purchase System | Cosmetics unlocked by XP or rank achievements, not just V-Bucks. |
New Limited-Time Modes | Rumors of a superhero mode focusing on abilities rather than weapons. |
These potential innovations may appear following the highly successful mini-season Galactic Battle, which included the largest Star Wars collaboration to date. After the final event Death Star Sabotage, Chapter 3, Season 6 shifted focus to superheroes, adding characters like Robin and Superman, as well as heroic items that provide flexibility and mobility in gameplay.
Another feature of the leak is the possible return of pets—a cosmetic addition previously criticized for causing visual clutter in matches. This time, Epic is likely to restrict the visibility of pets to only the owner and their team to avoid distractions and maintain gameplay clarity. There have been previous rumors that pets will become a new cosmetic item in Fortnite.
While many players are excited about the prospect of leaderboards and expanded progression systems, not all new features have been well-received. Specifically, rank-linked stores have sparked controversy: some call it an interesting experiment, while others see it as unfair to less experienced players who might not be able to earn rewards.
However, it's clear that all these innovations are focused on retaining players and encouraging them to stay in the game and earn rewards for their skills, effort, and time spent.
Fortnite continues to expand its universe: future collaborations are expected with "Squid Game," "The Simpsons," "Invincible," "Family Guy," and many others. But the likely new mechanics indicate that Epic aims not just for aesthetics but also for gameplay depth.
