Square Enix has now confirmed the release of the Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake on 30th October 2025. The title will come out on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, and PC (for Steam and Microsoft Store). The release rounds out the Erdrick trilogy after the launch of the Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake late last year.

A Classic Reimagined in HD-2D

The remake utilizes the signature HD-2D visual style made famous by Octopath Traveler, blending pixel art with 3D environments. This edition includes both Dragon Quest I and II, allowing players to experience the full saga of the legendary hero Erdrick’s descendants in one complete package.

Gameplay Improvements and New Features

The remake offers a host of enhancements aimed at improving the overall gameplay experience:

• Voice Acting – For the first time in series history, all characters are fully voiced.
• Improved Battles in Dragon Quest I – Players can now face multiple enemies at once, adding more depth to combat.
• Auto-Battle and Speed Settings – Players can adjust the pace of battles or enable automatic combat.
