Arrowhead Delivers One Cape, Keeps Fans Waiting for Another

Helldivers 2 Receives New Cape for Victory Over the Illuminates — Fans Still Waiting for Promised “Review Bombing” Cape. Arrowhead thanks players for defending Super Earth, but an old promise remains unfulfilled.

New Cape for the War Against the Illuminates

Developers at Arrowhead Studios have released a new cosmetic cape for all Helldivers 2 players who took part in repelling the latest Illuminate attack. This is a reward for the collective victory, symbolizing the community's contribution to the defense of Super Earth. The cape is already being distributed for free and will become available to all users in the coming weeks.

Promised “Review Bombing” Cape Still Missing

Despite the good news, fans are still waiting for another cape — the one Arrowhead promised a year ago following the controversy over mandatory PSN account linking.

In May 2024, after Sony attempted to force PC players of Helldivers 2 to register via PSN, the community massively lowered the game’s rating on Steam. Later, when the requirement was removed, players began leaving positive reviews again, restoring the game’s score. At the time, the studio promised to release a special cape to commemorate this event once Sony lifted regional restrictions.

Sony Removed Restrictions — But the Cape Hasn't Arrived

On June 14, 2025, Sony finally lifted PSN regional blocks in countries where the service had not been officially supported. This was a key condition previously stated by Arrowhead as necessary for the cape’s release.

However, since then, there have been no updates or further promises from the studio. Players are actively discussing this on Reddit and Steam forums, reminding the developers of their unfulfilled commitment.

The new cape for defending Super Earth is a nice gesture of appreciation for players’ participation in the game’s campaigns. But the promise made during the “review bombing” incident remains unkept. Now that Sony has removed all obstacles, fans expect Arrowhead to finally deliver and fulfill its debt to the community.
