Recently, Summitsphere studio showcased the final trailer for its upcoming side-scrolling action-platformer Antonblast. The game is set for release on December 3, 2024, on PC via Steam and Nintendo Switch.
The trailer features very dynamic gameplay, centered around the protagonist's running mechanics through various obstacles, as well as the abilities and moves he can use to overcome them. The game follows Dynamite Anton, a demolition expert from Boiler City, who embarks on a journey to reclaim his stolen drinks from the Devil.
Additionally, some gameplay mechanics typical of this genre can be observed: air rolls, trampoline jumps, dashes, time-limited levels, and other details that compel the player to keep moving as quickly as possible to reach the level's finish.
The levels are filled with enemies and obstacles. Utilizing Anton's special abilities, including the "Clutch" — a dash attack, and hammer blows, the hero can destroy them and various objects. Each level concludes with a "Happy Hour" event, during which players must return to the beginning of the level before it collapses.
Antonblast draws inspiration from classic games such as Wario Land, Crash Bandicoot, and Sonic CD. The gameplay may also remind players of other well-known games in this format, such as Jazz Jackrabbit or the acclaimed Pizza Tower.
Initially, the release of Antonblast was scheduled for an earlier date, but it was postponed to December 3, 2024, to give developers additional time to refine and polish the game.
