Marvel Rivals, the free-to-play first-person shooter by NetEase Games, will introduce a new FFA game mode called Doom Match in the update for the first season. This mode is named after Doctor Doom, one of the key antagonists in the game's storyline.

According to the game's plot, Doctor Doom and his alter ego from 2099 have caused a "time stream intertwining," leading to conflicts in the multiverse. Despite his significant role in the storyline, Doctor Doom is not yet a playable character. However, discussions in gaming communities suggest that he may become available in future updates.

In this mode, players will be randomly assigned to different factions and will fight for victory by eliminating opponents from opposing factions. At the end of the match, the winners will be the players who rank in the top 50% based on results, regardless of which faction they were assigned to. The mode will take place on the maps Sanctum Sanctorum and Midtown: New York City. One of the streamers has already shared early gameplay footage from Doom Match in Marvel Rivals.

The first season of Marvel Rivals is set to launch on January 10, 2025. In addition to the Doom Match mode, this season will introduce characters from the Fantastic Four—Mr. Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Human Torch, and The Thing, who will become available for play. According to the season's plot, Dracula teams up with Doctor Doom to plunge New York into eternal night and unleash an army of vampires.
