Overwatch Champions Series 2025 - EMEA Stage 1 is going to be an important event within the esports calendar, where top teams from Europe, the Middle East, and Africa will clash in skillful, high-intensity Overwatch 2 gameplay. With the prize pool standing at $100,000, the stakes have never been higher as teams go head-to-head in this prestigious competition.
Tournament Structure
- Regular Season - January 31, 2025 - February 23, 2025: Round Robin First-to-3 (Ft3) series, with each team facing every other team. The top six teams go to the Regional Playoffs.
- Regional Playoffs - March 1-9, 2025: A double-elimination bracket determines the final standings. All matches except the Grand Finals are Ft3, and the Grand Finals are Ft4.
One of the most interesting approaches in this tournament is the Hero Bans system. Each team will ban one hero per map in a way that is going to affect both teams, the bans must be from different roles, and each team can ban a certain hero only once per series. The higher-seeded team starts banning, then it goes to the team that lost the previous map.

The top six teams proceed to EMEA Stage 2, a guarantee of continued participation in the 2025 season. Favorites
Gen.G Esports
It remains one of the most prestigious esports organizations and is expected to invade the EMEA region successfully. Although Gen.G still hasn't revealed their list of players for EMEA, the strong success of that same roster across many disciplines within esports lends credibility to making it a hopeful in the quest for the overall win, under Head Coach Crusty. Top-seeded from top talent backed with strategic deepness, there has not been a less desired performance among both fans and analysts.
Twisted Minds
As a returning partner team, Twisted Minds will be represented by an experienced lineup of Quartz, Youbi, and Seicoe as their DPS players, Hadi as Tank, and FunnyAstro and irony in the Support role. Managed by Cointree and EQz, this team has always shown tenacity and teamwork. They should capitalize on this experience to make it big.
Underdogs
Sakura Esports
Sakura Esports including China, Zorrow - on DPS; Hitori at the Tank position, and Prota along with Strebor for Support - a strong backbone under the dedicated coaching of Maeve, they also stand in a similar position, the only question being far above expected for them with teams such as Gen.G or Twisted Minds.
Team Vision
The other qualifier team Team Vision has yet to prove themselves against the more established names. Their lineup includes: slowdive, Taejong as DPS players, iMOH97 as a Tank, while AOY, Simple, and One are Support. The team manager is Skeng1, and this team needs to rise to the occasion to live up to the expectations that come with OWCS competition. They have not been tested by fire in any high-stakes tournament, which places them in the underdog category.
Overwatch Champions Series 2025 - EMEA Stage 1 promises to be even more high-octane action, deep strategies, and truly memorable moments. While teams prepare for their prowess to outshine one another, fans also look ahead with intensity at streaks of match-ups promising a shape-up into the future of Overwatch esports within the EMEA region.
