The Sims 4 has released the gameplay trailer for the Adventure Awaits Expansion Pack, set to release on 2 October 2025. From imaginary friends, getaways to kayaking, the trailer has left Simmers excited of the potential gameplay this EP might bring.

Adventure Awaits aims to expand the world of getaways and vacations in the Sims 4. While it is possible now to have your Sims go on a vacation to Mt Komorebi, Granite Falls or any rental lots, it has always been a lackluster and unexplored aspect in the game. Here are some Adventure Awaits features we’ve seen so far that could help enhance your Sims’ vacation gameplay.
Getaways From Your Everyday Routine
The main feature of this pack is a brand new system where you can customise your Getaways, tailoring it to your Sim’s every wants and needs. You can choose to have your Sims go on a vacation, a Fitness Retreat, a Cooking Competition or even weekends away at grandma's - the possibilities are endless!
These getaways will be held in the location of your choice, ranging from lots available in any world to custom venues. You can also set Schedules that your Sims will adhere to, with activities such as Have Breakfast, Archery and Clean. Giving your Sims Roles from the Role Library is also an option, as is setting Rules- which makes for a unique gameplay experience. Just set the starting time and the duration of your stay to begin your adventure.

The game offers a handful of default presets like Outdoor Kids Camp and Senior Living Community, which you are still able to customise. However, you can always curate something outside of their presets like a Daycare- and be able to save it as a preset. Here are the Rules and default presets that are shown in the trailer:

- Fitness Retreat
- Outdoor Kids Camp
- Romantic Competition
- Cooking Competition
- Cozy Bed and Breakfast
- Creativity Retreat
- Senior Living Community
- Teen Popularity Contest
Rules

- Grindset Mindset
- Hardcore Mode
- House of Grudges
- Love is in the Air
- No Strings Attached

Crafting Custom Venues

As mentioned previously, this pack allows you to have custom venues such as your personal builds as the location for the getaway. This means that you are able to craft your builds to specific getaways. For example, you can now fully recreate the popular show Love Island in the game, making an actual reality show in a recreation of the villa itself.
You can assign the Schedule, Roles and Rules to the venue itself and upload it to the gallery. Or, if you want to jump straight to gameplay, download other players’ custom venues.
This pack also allows you the option to choose a custom venue with a normal business routine like a bakery that you can then host a one-time getaway in, such as a baking competition. This raises the question of how this system is going to work with the Businesses and Hobbies’ system- whether it will cause an overlap or be able to coexist seamlessly.

The World of Gibbi Point

As with every world introduced in the Sims 4, Gibbi Point is presumably inspired by a real-life location; New Zealand. It is made up of three neighbourhoods; Wanderwood Wilds with its mysterious forest and erupting geysers, the sparkling waters of Crystal Valley and the festive boardwalk activities at the Jellyfish Junction.
Each neighbourhood comes with its own getaway. Camp Gibbi Gibbi is surrounded by the mountain streams of Wanderwood Wilds, Revive & Thrive aims to heal your body and mind at the coast of the Jellyfish Junction while Love Highland is nestled by the water in Crystal Valley.
Imaginary Friends, Modular Playgrounds and Formative Moments
With the option to hold a summer camp, it seems that this EP will also put a focus on your Sim children’s gameplay. One of them is the reintroduced feature of a previous Sims 3 pack, imaginary friends.
Brought to life from their doll forms, the four different imaginary friends have their own personalities- which will presumably affect the children’s traits growing up. When a child reaches the teen stage, they will then have the option to turn them into real Sims.

Furthermore, Adventure Awaits comes with modular playground pieces. Move over basic jungle gyms! You can now build customised playground structures spanning your entire lot, or even across different levels of terrain. Now, we are one step closer to an amusement park pack with its own modular roller coasters.
Formative moments are new challenges that the children face growing up, which will eventually shape their future traits. These formative moments are available in 4 types; Inquisitiveness, Social, Independence and Adventure.
Recreation and More Fitness Activites
Naturally, this EP will also offer more recreational activities and skills for your Sims throughout their getaways. In any pool of water, you can now use your Kayak to paddle in it and go fishing. Other than kayaking, you can also now lift Free Weights and use a Spin Bike to increase your Fitness skill.
Papercraft includes making origami and paper mache crafts while Entomology introduces catching butterflies and raising them from caterpillars. Archery lets you shoot at apples on other Sims’ heads and Diving is now its own skill with new jumps.

These are all the features mentioned in trailers and teasers thus far, which ticks all the boxes for a great expansion pack. It also helps that the team who worked on this pack was also in charge of the Life and Death EP, which was a great success due to its excellent execution.
Similar to previous packs, Adventure Awaits will be released following an in-game Event called the Forever Friends Event. These events are usually connected thematically to the upcoming pack and includes a series of small tasks that the game requires you to do, earning you in-game rewards throughout its run.
Available for pre-order now at US$39.99, Adventure Awaits has a lot of potential to be a great pack in Sims 4 history. But is it worth your money? We will have to wait and see.
