Infinity Nikki has introduced a major update that brings a whole new layer of creativity to the stylist experience. With version 1.5, players now have access to the DIY Workshop, a feature that allows outfit and hair dyeing for even more personalized fashion. The update also marks Infinity Nikki’s official launch on Steam, opening the game up to an even wider audience.
While there are several new features to explore, many players are especially interested in how the dye system works, especially since it's tied into the new events. Here’s a breakdown of everything you need to know about the DIY Workshop.
The DIY Workshop is a newly added feature that allows players to dye the colors of eligible outfits and hairstyles. Dye options expand when outfits are evolved, giving players more reasons to upgrade their wardrobe. In addition to color customization, players can also adjust the glossiness of their looks. It's important to note that not all outfits are eligible for custom dyes, but we are sure that you'll have plenty of customizable pieces in your wardrobe!
According to the developers, the dye system was created to offer more freedom in styling combinations. They have already begun gathering player feedback for improvements, so we can expect upgrades and more in the DIY Workshop.
To access the dye system, go to the DIY Workshop via Nikki's Wardrobe [C] and clicking on the color palette symbol, or by opening the Pear-Pal menu [Esc] and selecting DIY Workshop.
Once inside, choose an eligible outfit or hairstyle you want to dye. Eligible items are marked with a color palette icon in the lower corner.
When you select an item, you can often dye specific parts of the fabric. For example, a dress may have up to seven customizable sections, letting you choose which parts to recolor or leave as-is.
After selecting the item, choose a color from the palettes on the right side of the screen. By default, only two colors from the first seven color palettes are available to use. Once you're happy with your customization, click Save. If you’ve dyed multiple items, use Batch Save to apply all changes at once.
To wear the dyed outfits, go to Nikki's Wardrobe [C] and spot the clothing piece. If it has dye options that you have saved, the color palette icon glows in colors. If you have multiple dyes saved for the single item, simply click on the circle (as highlighted in the image below) to switch colors.
Hearing all the pattern hype and not seeing any pattern options in the DIY Workshop may be confusing. But obtaining patterns isn't as simple as dyeing colors on your clothes.
To get patterns, you must go through certain permanent gameplay features located on the Serenity Island and complete specific World Quests.
To unlock more colors and color palettes, you'll need special materials called Prisms:
Prisms can be obtained through the Store, events, treasure chests, and quests - though currently, there aren't many quests that reward Prisms. The quickest way to obtain them is obviously is through the Store, making this feature a bit more pay-to-access.
However, the most cost-efficient way to unlock colors is by evolving and completing outfits. If you've grinded enough to achieve these upgrades, you will be able to unlock an entirely new color palette, which also gives you all the color slots in it!
Pro Tip: You can preview locked colors on specific outfits and hairstyles before unlocking them. This lets you experiment and plan ahead, so you’ll know exactly which palette is worth spending your resources on - no regrets.
The color wheel, or more formally called "Custom Colors," offers full-spectrum freedom and would be a treat for customization enthusiasts! To unlock the color wheel in Infinity Nikki's DIY Workshop, you must evolve a 5-Star outfit until Stage 3 and unlock all available color palettes for it. Note that 4-Star outfits and below cannot unlock the Custom Colors option.
