The player begins their story as a "Prisoner", being examined by a Mother from the Bene Gesserit order. She asks a series of questions, and each answer shapes the character's core traits — both cosmetic (gestures, emotions) and functional (buffs or unique traits).For example, if the player’s origin is Chusuk, they will gain the Cultural Dialogue trait and the Chusuk Musical Emotion. However, such choices do not directly affect access to the Mentat skill tree — this path is unlocked separately through special quests.

Samina Moro

To gain access to the Mentat school, the player must find the NPC Samina Moro in the southern part of Hagga Rift, near the Riftwatch outpost. After a brief conversation, he offers the quest “First Blood.”To complete the task, the player must gather resources (100 Plant Fiber and 40 Iron Ore), then poison an enemy container in the Eastern Vermillius Gap area. Upon returning to Samina, the player receives initial access to basic Mentat abilities, experience points, and a Solari reward.

First Mentat Ability – “Sentinel”

Once the Mentat school is activated, the player gains access to their first active ability — “Sentinel.”This is a projector on a suspensor, appearing as a harmless cloud of blue dust. It can be remotely activated — when it detects motion, it releases a volley of darts. This makes it especially useful for tactical defense, ambushes, or area control.

Zane de Wittom

The next stage involves traveling to the city of Arrakeen, reachable by purchasing an ornithopter (around 2500 Solari) or crafting one yourself. In the city, the player must find Zane de Wittom, located in the Salusan Bull bar.Zane gives the player a challenging quest called “Calculated Calamity,” which involves:

• Interrogating enemy agents in Anvil and Riftwatch
• Infiltrating an enemy base in The Sweep to gather intel
• Destroying enemy equipment
• Finding the “Minimic Film” object and returning it to Arrakeen

Upon completing this quest, the player gains access to the expanded Mentat skill tree.

Additional Questline from Zane

After the main quest, Zane offers a six-part quest chain designed for true Mentat adepts. Each mission showcases a key Mentat ability:

• Interrogation and psychological pressure
• Secret deliveries
• Internal investigations
• Target eliminations
• Surveillance and manipulation
• Strategic coordination

These missions allow the player to demonstrate their commitment to the Mentat path.Upon completing the full chain, the player unlocks second and third slots in their skill tree. This significantly enhances combat and tactical options, opening the door for deeper specialization.
