Whether you're deep in Limveld or rushing against the night, Elden Ring: Nightreign demands tight coordination between you and your team. But what happens when you're matched with strangers and voice chat isn’t an option? That’s where the ping system becomes your lifeline. FromSoftware has given players a streamlined ping system that makes nonverbal communication clear and crucial. Here’s how to master it both for map navigation and item alerts, so your expeditions run like clockwork.
Map pings in Nightreign are your go-to tool for setting objectives, marking threats, or guiding lost teammates. They’re visible on both the map and the compass of every player on your team.
To ping a location:
Important info:
To remove a ping, simply hover over it on the map and press the ping button again. Placing a new ping automatically replaces your old one.
See something useful on the ground? You can highlight it for your team with an item ping—perfect for sharing loot or drawing attention to your location.
To ping an item while standing over it:
If you're not standing over an item, these commands will instead drop a ping at your current location, showing your character icon to teammates, handy when you need to rally or warn others without words. Just like map pings, item pings are limited to one at a time per player and will replace the last ping you placed.
In Nightreign, time is always working against you. As you race to grow stronger before nightfall and the horrors that come with it, fast, silent teamwork is key. Even if you’re in voice chat, using pings to mark loot, direct movement, or indicate danger keeps everyone on the same page. Learn the ping system early, use it often, and you’ll go from scattered survivors to a synchronized squad.
