By now, you'll probably have completed the campaign twice in Path of Exile 2, one on normal difficulty and one on cruel difficulty. By completing the campaign twice, you'll then get access to the endgame, a brand-new map with hundreds of hours worth of content to play through.
To gain access to the new maps in the endgame, you're going to need a Waystone. This is essentially a key that allows you to unlock that map or to be even more specific a small section of it that you have to navigate through to get to one of the bosses. These Waystones are tiered, the higher the tier, the harder the enemies are and the chances of better loot increases. These aren't unlimited, however, they do run out.
Let's take a quick look at how you can keep mapping and not running out of Waystones in Path of Exile 2.
Atlas Skill Tree
The Atlas skill tree is one of the easiest ways to keep Waystones coming through the door. The Atlas skill tree is an endgame-specific skill tree that is unlocked once you finish the campaign twice. This skill tree offers various ways you can adapt the endgame map with one of those being able to increase the chance of Waystones dropping. For the Atlas skill tree, go towards Constant Crossroads as this will give you a 20% increased chance of Waystones dropping.
Upgrade low-tier Waystones
By this time, your character should be near its peak powers in terms of items, ability damage, etc. Therefore, you're going to want to play the higher tier maps as this will give your character the hardest challenge, rather than virtually one-shotting the lower tier maps. But what if you don't have higher-tier Waystones? Let's show you how you can upgrade your Waystones:
This can be done by using Regal Orbs and Exalted Orbs to upgrade your tier one-to-five Waystones to the next level. To get from tiers six to ten, use Regal Orbs. To go higher, you're going to need to use as many Exalted, Regal, and Vaal Orbs as possible to get towards tier 15, which is the highest tier you can go to in the Path of Exile 2 endgame.
Fighting bosses
Although the bosses can be challenging in the Path of Exile 2 endgame, they do give the best rewards, including Waystones. If you have a giant stack of orbs from the previous method, you're going to want to try and use high-tier Waystones on the boss nodes as the bosses often drop more Waystones than you would normally find on generic maps. Then once you have your orbs, you can upgrade some of them so you can keep running the higher tier bosses and then upgrading those low-tier Waystones into higher ones.
