One of the fun activities you can do in Hello Kitty Island Adventure is fishing - and fortunately, you can unlock fishing quite early in the game! All you need to do is befriend Badtz-maru, craft your fishing rod, and learn how to fish. We break down the process below.

How to Start Fishing in Hello Kitty Island Adventure

Hello Kitty Island Adventure players will be playing around various islands on the vast open world map, and that also means surrounded with sea filled with unique fishes. 

To start fishing, you need to increase your Friendship with Badtz-maru to Level 3. Once there, you will unlock a story quest called "Keep It Reel" which will teach you how to fish. To find and start the quest, head to the Active Quests tab and scroll under "The Right Tools".

Activate the quest and talk to Badtz-maru to begin!

How to Unlock Fishing Rod

Badtz-maru will talk about fishing and ask if you have your own fishing rod. To craft your own fishing rod, you need x10 Sticks, x3 Threads, and x1 Gizmo. Badtz-maru then will hand you the "Fishing Rod Plan", a recipe needed to craft the item.

Sticks are scattered all around the island so collecting ten of them will be easy. To get Threads, you need to give gifts to Tuxedosam. While, to get Gizmos, you need to give gifts to Chococat.

Once you have all the needed materials, head over to the crafting table at Chococat's and craft the fishing rod!

How to Fish in Hello Kitty Island Adventure

After you have a fishing rod, talk to Badtz-maru and he will lead you to his favorite fishing spot. Note that you can fish in any parts of the sea and even in puddles of water. During this part, Badtz-maru will teach you the steps of fishing:

1. Tap/Click on the fishing rod to cast it into the water.
2. A red exclamation mark will appear above your rod when a fish is hooked. 
3. Keep the white arrow in the center of the yellow bar. If your arrow is near the green line, you will reel in the fish faster.

Fishing may be confusing at first, but after a couple of attempts, you will get the hang of it! This marks the end of the "Keep it Reel" quest. Happy fishing!
