In Dune: Awakening, players can reach the city of Arrakeen in two main ways: by using a taxi Ornithopter or by flying their own vehicle. The fastest and free option is flying your own ornithopter via the Overland Map.

Flying via the Overland Map

To reach Arrakeen with your own ornithopter, you need to fly to the edge of the Hagga Basin zone. Once you reach the boundary of this zone, the game automatically opens the Overland Map. This allows you to choose a new landing location, and Arrakeen will be one of the available options.

After selecting the destination, the flight proceeds automatically — it’s free and doesn’t require any further actions. This method is convenient for players who have already crafted or obtained an ornithopter, as it avoids spending Solaris on travel and dealing with NPC intermediaries.

Things to Keep in Mind

Triggering the Overland Map can be a bit tricky. It only activates when you fully cross the outer border of the region — simply flying near it isn’t enough. Your ornithopter must be stable in the air, without sharp maneuvers or hovering.

Sometimes players don’t see the map menu immediately. In such cases, try adjusting your flight altitude or approach a different edge of the map. Also, after transitioning to the Overland Map and flying to Arrakeen, your ornithopter doesn’t disappear — you can use it for the return journey or further exploration.

Why Go to Arrakeen

Arrakeen is the game’s main social hub, where key NPCs are located: vendors, combat class trainers, faction representatives, and characters that assign important story quests. Here, players gain access to major progression systems, new playstyles, and interactions with other users.
