The brave men and women of the Super Earth Armed Forces (SEAF) are more than background filler in Helldivers 2, they’re your boots-on-the-ground backup, and with the right commands, they can become a reliable extension of your fireteam. Whether you’re going solo or looking to hold a position with minimal effort, SEAF troopers can help shift the tide of battle. But they won’t act like trained Helldivers unless you lead them properly.
SEAF Troopers are NPC soldiers that spawn randomly during defense campaign missions across Super Earth-controlled planets. While they usually act independently, holding positions or attacking nearby threats, they can be recruited into your squad using voice commands. Once under your command, they follow your lead, assist in firefights, and can even help take out enemy installations.
These soldiers are equipped with:
While they aren’t as aggressive or durable as Helldivers, they’re excellent for added firepower and distraction.
To add SEAF Troopers to your temporary squad, use the “Follow Me” voice command. Here’s how:
Nearby SEAF troopers will acknowledge your command and start following you. They’ll stay with you until they die, get stuck in terrain (which does happen), or you issue another order like “Wait”.
Once recruited, SEAF soldiers offer several tactical advantages:
They engage nearby enemies automatically using rifles and grenades. If they have EAT-17s, they’ll target larger enemies like Fleshmobs, Harvesters, or Automaton tanks.
SEAF troopers are capable of damaging enemy infrastructure, including:
This makes them incredibly useful when tackling side objectives, especially if you’re playing solo or separated from your squad.
Use the “Wait” voice command to stop SEAF troops at a chokepoint or defensive position. They’ll hold that area, offering suppressive fire and distraction for incoming waves.
SEAF soldiers are vulnerable to friendly fire. Be mindful when using explosives, sentry turrets, or airstrikes, your own weapons can wipe them out faster than the enemy ever will.
Unlike Helldivers, SEAF troops can’t sprint. If you charge ahead, there’s a good chance they’ll fall behind or disappear from your squad. Stick to a steady pace or regroup with a new “Follow Me” command if they get lost.
Troopers sometimes get stuck on terrain or stop following entirely. If they freeze up, reissuing the command usually gets them moving again. Don’t rely on them for critical tasks if you can’t keep an eye on them.
A lone SEAF soldier won’t hold the line, but a squad of four or more can turn into a decent fighting force. Try to recruit as many as you can when heading into heavy combat or assaulting objectives.
While they won’t win a war on their own, SEAF Troopers are far from useless. With the right commands, they become an extension of your tactical arsenal, capable of defending, supporting, and even destroying critical objectives. Just don’t treat them like indestructible Helldivers, and always keep an eye out for friendly fire.
