How To Change Your Class Mastery in Last Epoch

Last Epoch has always been a playground for theorycrafters, with its deep passive trees, gear synergies, and powerful class Masteries. But until recently, there was one major limitation: once you picked a Class Mastery, you were locked in for good. That meant if you wanted to test out a different Mastery, you had to start a brand-new character from scratch.

Thanks to the big changes in Season 2, Last Epoch now gives you the freedom to respecialize your Class Mastery for a small fee and a quick visit to a certain NPC. Whether you're looking to switch from a Spellblade to a Runemaster, or from a Beastmaster to a Druid, here's exactly how to do it.

Where to Find Chronomancer Lerinne

To get started, head to The End of Time, the central hub you'll visit often throughout your journey. Once you're there, look just south of the main waypoint for Chronomancer Lerinne, the same NPC who lets you re-specialize your passive points.

She's now your go-to for Mastery changes as well.

How To Respecialize Your Class Mastery

When you speak to Chronomancer Lerinne, you'll see the option to Respecialize Mastery. Clicking this will open a menu showing the two other Masteries available for your current class.

Here’s what happens next:

  • You'll be prompted to pay a fee in gold. This cost scales with your character level and how many passive points you've already invested into your current Mastery.
  • Once you confirm, your Class Mastery is switched immediately.
  • All passive points will be reset not just your Mastery ones, but also those in your base class tree. That means you'll get a clean slate to rebuild your character however you like.
  • Your gear stays equipped, but you might want to swap some of it out to better match your new Mastery’s playstyle.

Things To Keep In Mind

  • You can change Masteries as often as you want, as long as you can afford the gold cost.
  • This system encourages build experimentation, so don’t be afraid to test different synergies, skills, and passive combinations.
  • Be sure to save gold if you plan to switch Masteries frequently, especially at higher levels, where the fee can get pricey.

With this new system in place, Last Epoch feels more flexible and rewarding than ever. You no longer have to level multiple characters of the same class just to see how a different Mastery feels.
