The Hircine quest in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is one of the most thrilling Daedric missions in the game. It challenges players with a legendary hunt, a battle against a mythical creature, and a valuable reward—especially for those who favor light armor.
To initiate Hircine’s quest, your character needs to be a minimum of level 17. Travel to Hircine’s Shrine when you reach that level. It’s found in the wooded regions of the area southeast of the Imperial City along the Niben River.
To gain an audience with Hircine, you have to present a bear or wolf pelt as an offering. The pelts should either be obtained by hunting the wild animals themselves or bought from the Three Brothers Trade Goods stall in the Imperial City. In the event that no pelts can be found, wait a few game days for the stall stock to replenish.
After the offering, Hircine will appear and task you with slaying a unicorn and bringing back its horn as a trophy.
The unicorn resides in Harcane Grove, south-east of Hircine's Shrine within a dense forest. It is protected by three Grove Minotaurs-strong and hostile foes that are battle-ready.
To effectively defeat the unicorn, consider the following:
Once you slay the unicorn, take its horn and return to the shrine.
When you present the unicorn horn to Hircine, he will reward you with the Saviour’s Hide, a light cuirass that grants 25% resistance to magic. This artifact is especially valuable for light armor users, particularly stealth-based characters or mages.
It is also one of the Daedric artifacts required for the related main quest mission.
The Hircine quest is more than just another Daedric task—it’s a true test of the hunter’s spirit. With proper preparation and cunning, you can overcome the challenge and claim a legendary artifact worthy of the Prince of the Hunt.
