Grow a Garden: Seed Stages Event Guide

In the latest update on 27 September, the Seed Stages Event was launched- replacing the Fall Market Event. This event is a small one compared to previous events, only introducing a handful of new seeds, pets and items. Furthermore, most of the new items can only be obtained through the Season Pass.

The Season Pass, a newly permanent feature and the Seed Stages Event are not correlated in any way. This means that you are able to participate in this Season Pass without having to partake in this event. Both of these will give you rewards either way. Here’s how you can take part in the Seed Stages Event and claim the rewards.

Seed Stages Event Stand

The event stand is located in the middle of the map- taking form in a small, round platform. It is made up of three walls with shelves, lined with seeds, seed packs and sprouted plants. The objects are items that we’ve seen before such as Dragon Fruit Seed, Cherry Blossom Seed and Flower Seed Pack. These items aren’t actually sold in the event stand and are purely decorative.

The NPC of the event stand is a familiar face; Samuel- but noticeably more muscled. This is probably in parallel with the concept of the new Evo Seeds, a presumably better seed. When you interact with Samuel, he will tell you how to tend to your Evo plants and to take a grown Evo plant to him for its next evolution.

What is an Evo Seed?

Evo Seed is a new type of seed, growing differently than a seed from Sam’s Seed Shop. It requires you to take care of the plant’s health, which will affect its growth.

The seeds that you can purchase from the event stand are only Evo 1 Seeds, the first form the plant appears as. You can grow the seed into a plant and take it to Samuel to receive its first Evolution. This is the first Stage, where an Evo 1 plant evolves into an Evo 2 Seed.

There are 3 Stages of Evolution that an Evo plant will go through:

  • Stage 1: Evo 1 Plant ~> Evo 2 Seed
  • Stage 2: Evo 2 Plant ~> Evo 3 Seed
  • Stage 3: Evo 3 Plant ~> Evo 4 Seed

For every Stage, you will take the plant back to Samuel to evolve it until you have the fully evolved, Evo 4 plant. There are 4 new Evo Seeds in total, as shown in the table below.

How To Grow an Evo Seed?

After planting an Evo Seed, you will have the option to keep it healthy by feeding it plants and using gears- both of which affects its growth in a few ways. Tending to your plants is not necessary, as the plant will complete its growth anyway. However, there are some advantages that you can gain if you do tend to them.

Size Boost

Feeding your Evo seeds crops will boost the size of the plant. When tested, the rarer crops does not guarantee a bigger boost percentage. So, you’re better off using the more Common crops to feed your Evo seeds.

However, for the first three Evo seeds, this will not matter. Your grown Evo plant will evolve into the next seed without carrying over its properties- resulting in a waste of your resources. It is only beneficial for you to feed your Evo 4 plant. This then directly contributes to the size of its produce, which will increase its sale value.

Growth Speed

Submitting or using gears for your Evo plants will cut its growth time short. A Harvest Tool quickens the growth time by x1.05 while using the Watering Can quickens it by x22.02 with one click. The growth speed is capped at x104.87.

This is a great advantage to have when you are grinding to get many plants to Evo 4 before this event ends and can be utilised at every evolution stage.

Absorbed Mutations

Feeding your Evo plants with mutated crops will increase the plant’s chance to absorb its mutation. The chance of this is completely random, so you might end up submitting several mutated crops before the properties are absorbed.

However, this will be a complete waste if you feed it to the first three Evo seeds. Your grown Evo plant that will evolve into a seed does not carry the mutations forward. This can only be rewarding for your Evo 4 plant, increasing the sale value of the produce.

Alternatively, you could just forgo this step as Evo plants can still be mutated by weather and pets’ traits.

These are the ways that you can tend to your plants in every evolution stage. The cycle repeats until you receive the final evolution, an Evo Seed 4 plant that will continue giving you more and more fruits.

The final produce can be sold, fed to your pets or even fed to other Evo plants like any other plant. All of the Evo plants sell for a range of 45K - 150K Sheckles without mutations, which is quite valuable considering their seed price of 100K - 850K Sheckles and the fact that they are multi-harvest plants.

Other than its sale value, players are also mass farming the Evo Seeds to gain the Event Rewards.

With every Evo plant's stage of evolution, you will receive a random item from the pool of potential rewards listed below.
