Carrots in Farming Simulator 25 can be one of the most challenging crops to grow, and many farmers have voiced frustration over the process. Growing carrots requires patience and most importantly time. And while the payout isn't necessarily high, it offers a rewarding challenge for those looking to test their farming skills. If you're up for the task, here's a step-by-step guide on how to grow and sell carrots in the game!
When is Carrot Season in Farming Simulator 25?
In Farming Simulator 25, carrots can be planted between April and July, with the harvest season running from August to November. If you try to plant carrots outside of these months, the game won’t allow it.
However, if you prefer to plant crops at any time of the year, you can disable "Seasonal Growth" in the Game Settings and plant carrots regardless of the in-game calendar.
How to Grow Carrots
- Choosing the Right Land: Start small for your first carrot field. It will make things easier when you get to the harvest, and managing a smaller plot allows for more control over the process.
- Preparing the Land: Begin by prepping your land. If the field has been used for other crops, ensure it's properly mulched. Then, proceed to plow the field, which will reveal any stones.
- Remove Stones: If you have fieldstones disabled, you can skip this step. Otherwise, use the stone picker to remove the stones. While stones don’t affect crop growth, they can damage your equipment, leading to costly repairs in the long run. Stones can also be sold to the cement factory for a small profit.
- Liming, Rolling, and Cultivating: After plowing, check if your field requires liming and rolling. Liming ensures the soil's pH is optimal for crop growth. Before planting, don’t forget to cultivate the field. This will help increase your yield bonus.
- Fertilizing: Field Fertilization is flexible and can be done either before planting or during the crop’s growth phase. To maximize your yield, ensure the field is fertilized to 100%. For most fertilizing machines, you’ll need to apply a second layer of fertilizer to get the full benefit, so plan to fertilize twice.
- Planting Carrots: You’re ready to plant your carrots! Head to the shop and purchase a machine from the "Vegetable Planters" category. For seeds, navigate to the "Seeds" section in the store and select whichever are labeled seeds. Once the seeds are loaded into the planter, toggle the machine to carrots (this is crucial, as the planter can also be used for other crops like parsnips, beets, and spinach).
- Dealing with Weeds: As your carrots begin to grow, be mindful of weeds. If weeds start to appear, use a weeder like the Puler 600 to clear them out and avoid any negative impact on your crop. You can also use herbicides for taller weeds.
- Harvesting Carrots: When your carrots are ready for harvest, you’ll notice medium bushes sprouting above the soil. To harvest them, you’ll need a Vegetable Harvester such as the Dewulf GBC. However, harvesting carrots can be a tedious process for most players, as the harvester only works on one narrow row at a time. Additionally, the machine moves slowly, making the entire harvesting process take a considerable amount of time for large fields.
How to Sell Carrots
Once your carrots are harvested, you have several options for selling them:
- Sell at Stores with Carrot Demand: You can sell your harvested carrots at local stores that have a demand for them. Keep an eye out for the best prices at different locations to maximize your earnings.
- Feed Them to Animals: If you have horses or pigs on your farm, you can use your carrots to feed them. This offers a good way to utilize the crop, even if it doesn't provide an immediate financial return.
- Maximize Profit: While carrots can bring in some profit, their peak demand period is in January. To make the most out of your carrot harvest, try to store them until this peak season and sell them during this time for the best prices.
