Some bosses in Elden Ring can be encountered multiple times. One such boss is the Fallingstar Beast, one of which can be found in the Hinterlands region. This boss resembles a stone hybrid of a bull, beetle, and scorpion. One of its features is its high resistance to certain types of damage.
In this guide, we will help you understand how to counter this boss in Elden Ring: Shadow of Erdtree.
Fallingstar Beast (Hinterlands) Location
Fallingstar Beast can be found in several locations, including the Finger Ruins of Dheo. This area lies near the northeastern edge of the DLC map, within Scaduview.
However, to reach this place, you need to unlock a secret path in Shadow Keep. To do this, you need to use the "O Mother" gesture in Elden Ring near a statue located at the bottom of Shadow Keep, which will open the way to the Hinterland beyond the fortress.
To acquire the "O Mother" gesture, if you don't have it, you should head to Bonnie Village, a small settlement southeast of the Moorth Ruins site of grace in the Gravesite Plain area. Once you obtain this gesture, you can open the way to Shadow Keep.

Upon entering the new area, you will encounter obstacles, including Tree Sentinels guarding the bridge at the beginning. These enemies can be dealt with using the right equipment and strategy.
After crossing the bridge, head towards the Fingerstone Hill site of grace, located near the main path of the Hinterland. The boss you're looking for is in a large crater slightly below this site of grace. As soon as you approach, the boss will react to your presence and attack.

How to Prepare for the Fallingstar Beast Fight
The fight with Fallingstar Beast can be somewhat challenging due to its extremely high physical defense against standard attacks, slashes, strikes, and piercing types of damage. Most common weapons do not deal much damage, potentially prolonging the fight and depleting some of your hero's resources. Additionally, this boss has very high poise, making it difficult to stagger. However, if your build is designed for this tactic, it might work out.
The primary vulnerability of Fallingstar Beast lies in its limited resistance to elemental attacks. It is vulnerable to magic, fire, lightning, and holy damage types, making various spells and elemental weapons very effective choices. For example, using spells and incantations like Glintblade Trio or Knight's Lightning Spear, you can consistently deal good damage to the boss.
Weapons that favor elemental damage over physical can also be more effective in this battle. Unfortunately, Fallingstar Beast is immune to bleed, frostbite, eternal sleep, and madness effects, making these strategies less viable. However, it is not resistant to scarlet rot and poison, so weapons like the Poleblade of the Bud or Venomous Fang can be effective if utilized well.

Fallingstar Beast Moves and Attacks
An important element of strategy when fighting any enemies and bosses is to know their movements and what to expect from them. Therefore, we have analyzed the list of moves and attacks the boss can use during the fight.
- Charge Attack: The beast often starts the fight by charging straight at you, and after reaching its endpoint, it charges again, possibly repeating this several times. To avoid damage from this attack, try dodging to the side at the last second or running away when the beast gets close.
- Pincer Strike: The beast thrusts its pincers into the ground and lunges forward, tearing up the ground over a large area.
- Pincer Combo: Fallingstar Beast swings its head side to side, trying to slash you with its pincers. Step back or dodge to the side to avoid each strike, using the short interval between swings to counterattack.
- Spiked Tail Swipe: Moving sideways, the beast drags its spiked tail along the ground. Roll to the right as soon as the tail touches the ground, a few seconds after the attack begins.

- Hoof Stomp: The beast raises its hind legs and then stomps on the ground for a small AoE attack. Depending on your position, roll back when you see the boss attempting to stomp.
- Biting Grab: Fallingstar Beast stands on its hind legs, snaps its jaw, then leaps at you, biting down before slamming you into the ground. Dodge away from the boss when it starts jumping and use the recovery time to land a few hits.
- Rock Eruption (Head): The beast slams its head into the ground, jerking violently while rocks explode around it. Dodge the rocks and stay close to the boss to avoid the damage zone.

- Rock Eruption (Tail): The beast raises its hind legs and swings its tail, launching rocks that fall in an AoE. Move towards the boss or dodge forward to avoid the falling rocks.
- Starfall: The beast leaps into the air, curls into a ball, and falls near you. Wait a few seconds before dodging when it begins to fall, then attack while it recovers.
- Gravity Burst: The beast raises its front legs, then slams down, releasing a gravity wave that pulls you in. This attack is easily spotted as the boss starts glowing purple while charging.
- Gravity Bolt: During this attack, the beast's jaws glow purple, and it summons a three-charge gravity lightning under you. Watch for the purple glow and move out of the danger zone.

How to Beat Fallingstar Beast in Shadow of the Erdtree
Like Starscourge Radahn, the Fallingstar Beast combines gravity magic with physical attacks during the fight. Summoning an ash spirit can ease the fight as the spirit can distract the opponent. However, your best choice in this fight will undoubtedly be your horse, Torrent.
Mounted on it, you can easily dodge most of the beast's attacks, close the distance, or retreat when needed. Your normal running speed may not always suffice for successfully avoiding enemy attacks, so Torrent's assistance will be crucial.
Fallingstar Beast can quickly swing its head from side to side, capable of knocking you down if you stand close to it. A sturdy shield and high stamina will help you block these strikes, but often it's more effective to dodge to the side or back. The beast frequently attacks the hero by stomping its legs back and forth three times in a row. Be prepared to dodge this attack consistently.

The beast's stomps with its front or hind legs create small shockwaves. Blocking them can prevent you from being knocked down. The tail attack throws up rocks, which can be dodged, but the flying debris can be blocked if your gear and stats allow it.
Watch out for the beast burying its pincers in the ground, as it will then start throwing rocks directly at you. The boss can also grab you with its pincers, lifting you into the air and then slamming you down. Be ready to dodge if you see the beast leaning to the side and clicking its pincers.
When it leaps into the air, the Fallingstar Beast curls into a ball before falling. But don't rush to dodge. Wait until it starts descending before rolling out of the way. If the pincers start glowing, the beast will walk around, causing explosions of rocky shards that end with a large gravity burst. Keep moving to avoid the smaller fragments and retreat to dodge the final AoE attack.

Reward for Defeating Fallingstar Beast (Hinterlands)
Defeating the Fallingstar Beast (Hinterlands) will reward you with 170,000 runes and the Gravitational Missile Sorcery. This battle can be somewhat challenging due to the boss's high resistance to various types of damage, but with the right approach and persistence, it can be overcome in a few attempts.
