Dynasty Warriors Origins Review

Dynasty Warriors: Origins is an exciting hack-and-slash game and a sequel to the popular Dynasty Warriors series, promising players a chance to engage in large-scale battles where one character fights against thousands of enemies. It is famous for its dynamic combat system that allows players to use a variety of weapons in creating thrilling combo attacks and impressive special moves. Still, however fun you are going to get from the gameplay, not everything is perfect in this game, and some aspects-most of all, the storyline-can leave much to be desired.

Story

In Dynasty Warriors: Origins, players can experience an exclusively crafted character for this very game, never appearing in any other part of the series. But for the storyline, many players are utterly disappointed because the storyline is a little weak and vague, while the protagonist is too emotionless and silent; thus, players cannot fully engage themselves in the atmosphere of the game. This no-depth and emotionless storyline makes it less effective.

Gameplay

Gameplay is closely interwoven with the usage of various types of weapons, which can unlock certain special skills. The more you play using a certain weapon, the more new combo attacks you can unlock. Weapons can be bought or unlocked upon defeating certain generals.

Each of these weapons consumes a resource called "Courage." It can be used for large-scale attacks, powerful repeated strikes, and various counterattacks. Courage is built up by landing hits on enemies, parrying attacks, or perfectly dodging them after specific skills in the skill tree have been unlocked.

Parrying and perfect dodging look better than ever and boast some serious advantages in battle. Successfully parried attacks immediately open up opportunities for a counterattack, interrupt enemy combos, and make them vulnerable to knockouts.

Design and World

Outside of combat, Dynasty Warriors: Origins puts you on a big map replete with natural scenery: mountains, rivers, and forests. In fact, the entire game map is dotted with markers where missions are available to you for battle, resource gathering, or meeting officers. There are 10 provinces in the game world, and they are fairly decently sized. Besides the main storyline, there are side missions that allow you to get some useful rewards, such as new accessories for improving one or another stat of your character, or additional guards in order to develop tactics. Challenges are also available-they take only a few minutes and are not particularly difficult, for example, destroying a certain amount of enemies within a specific type of weapon.

Conclusion

It captivates, in general, through the type of gameplay this is, first of all through the number of different types of weapons, and it has a little feature allowing the opening of new combinations in attacking. Really interestingly, it allows getting interested during fights-a really vivid dynamic, plus the visible result of improved fighting skills. So if you like intrigue in games and enjoyment in general, despite some defects in the story, then Dynasty Warriors: Origins should be of your interest.
