Allies play a crucial role in Assassin's Creed Shadows, helping Naoe and Yasuke in their battle against the Shinbakufu. How to Recruit and Upgrade Companions

Recruitable allies can be summoned in battle to turn the tide in your favor. To call in allies, you must first build and upgrade the Dojo in your Hideout. At Novice rank, allies have their basic abilities, but as you upgrade them to Initiate and Veteran tiers, they gain enhanced skills.

Katsuhime
Shinobi (Ranged)
Uses a teppo (Japanese firearm) to daze enemies. At Initiate, throws a dazing bomb. At Veteran, bullets ricochet after dazing the target.
Ibuki
Ronin (Melee)
Strong impact attacks. At Initiate, shatters enemy armor on summon. As a Veteran, can repeat armor-shattering attacks.
Oni-Yuri
Toxin Specialist (Stealth)
Puts enemies to sleep. At Initiate, add poison effects. At Veteran, poisons enemy rations to delay reinforcements.
Yagoro
Assassin-in-Training (Melee)

Yaya (Buddhist Monk)

Found during the Shinbakufu questline in "The Fatherless Monk" mission.

In "Heads Will Roll," choose "Killing isn’t justice" to stay on her good side.

Complete the "Find Yaya" side quest, selecting:

  • "We forgive him"
  • "You need to forgive each other"
  • "Let's work together"

Gennojo (Thief & Potential Romance for Naoe)

Encountered in "Missing Missive" during the Shinbakufu questline.

Follow his story quests:

  • "Lost Honor"
  • "Sake and Sword"
  • "Honor Among Thieves"
  • "Stolen Hearts"
  • "The Godless Harvest"

Stop him from using explosives in the final quest and select "We make a good team" to recruit him.

Katsuhime (Shinobi & Potential Romance for Naoe)

Encountered in "Showdown in Sakamoto" during the Shinbakufu questline.

Finish "Requiem for Rokkaku" to unlock "Letter from Katsuhime".

Ibuki (Ronin & Potential Romance for Yasuke)

Located near Kashiwara Village in Iga.

Complete "Ambush Interrupted," choosing "I have changed".

In "Homecoming," select "Fight with us, Kyobei", ensuring Kyobei survives the battle.

Oni-Yuri (Toxin Specialist)

Found near Sotomo Gate in Wakasa.

Complete her quests:

  • "Sweet Lies"
  • "Sweet Revenge"

Once completed, invite Oni-Yuri to join.

Yagoro (Assassin-in-Training)

Located in Harima.

"A Blade in the Dark" unlocks after all Shinbakufu members are defeated.

Duel Yagoro, then eliminate a samurai in Mitsunodo Hall.

How to Call Allies for Support

Once allies are recruited, you can summon up to two in battle. To call them:

  1. Ensure your Dojo is built and upgraded.
  2. Select the allies in the Dojo menu before heading into combat.
