Grand Final of DreamLeague Season 25 Postponed Due to DDoS Attacks — Full Timeline of Events

The grand final of DreamLeague Season 25 between Team Spirit and Tundra Esports was interrupted due to DDoS attacks on Spirit players. After several unsuccessful attempts to continue the match, the tournament organizers decided to resume the game on March 4, 16:00 CET.

The issues began on the fourth map of the match, when Spirit was leading the series 2-1. In the 18th minute, Denis “Larl” Sigitov and Magomed “Collapse” Khalilov were disconnected from the game and could not reconnect. The pause lasted more than two hours, after which the organizers attempted to restart the map with a new draft.

During the prolonged pause, Team Spirit published a statement on their official X account (formerly Twitter), stating that they "faced a DDoS attack on the Steam accounts of Collapse and Larl." The team also noted that the attack was possible due to a "vulnerability in Steam / Dota 2."

To continue the game, Larl logged in using the account of Team Spirit's CEO, and Collapse used the coach Silent's account. However, after some time, similar issues occurred for team captain Yaroslav “Miposhka” Naidenov, leading to another rehost. After this, Spirit tried to play with five other accounts, but the attacks continued.

"The DDoS was that someone was sending party invites, chats, etc., 100 times per second, and Dota just crashed due to the number of requests."

After unsuccessful attempts to resume the match, the championship organizers announced the postponement of the decisive maps of the encounter. The fourth map of the final will be replayed from the beginning with new drafts.

"This is of course *****, I think everyone understood where the 4th map was going, but now we will have to prove our strength again."
Yaroslav “Miposhka” Naidenov

DreamLeague Season 25 takes place from February 16 to March 2 in an online format. Teams are competing for a prize pool of $1,000,000 and 20,440 EPT points. You can follow the tournament news via this link.
