The end of the year in Dota 2 is always filled with exciting events, but Frostivus 2024 stands out for its scale. Valve has prepared not only festive gifts for players but a whole array of unique activities, innovations, and even the traditional wave of bans.
Festive Spirit: Hats and Events
Until January 15, 2025, each player will start a match with a special Frostivus hat, symbolizing success in the game. The new ability "Spirit of Frostivus" allows you to steal hats from enemies, gift them to allies, and even earn through killing Roshan or Tormentor. For the most ambitious, there's a hat counter displayed on the screen of the best players after the match.
Additionally, Valve introduced a new mechanic — the Frostivus Forge, where players can craft rewards from in-game ingredients. Available gifts include festive sounds for the chat wheel, a Christmas Tormentor-bell, and a wizard courier on a reindeer.
New Narrative and Treasure
For those who love to dive into the lore, a ten-page version of the story "Shapkorillion" is available to read directly in the game.
The Winter 2024 Heroes' Hoard treasure has also been launched, including 17 new item sets, Immortal items, taunts, and even a wolf pup for the Marci.

Wave of Bans and Festive Sale
As part of the annual wave of bans, Valve has blocked over 65,000 smurf accounts and players abusing bugs or participating in match-fixing. This is another step by the company towards honest and friendly games.
Additionally, the "Fallen Crown" shop has started a pre-New Year sale, offering both treasures and exclusive hero items, including Arcana for Venegful Spirit and Skywrath mage. The sale will continue until January 3, and the saga itself will conclude on January 15, 2025.
