Quartet 1

This group is the most exciting of the Play-In stage, featuring top teams Liquid and HEROIC. The opening match between these two teams is a rematch from the recent BLAST Bounty tournament, where HEROIC defeated Liquid. Liquid’s sniper, Roland "ultimate" Tomkowiak, will have extra motivation to perform in Katowice, especially since this event holds special importance for Polish players. HEROIC, meanwhile, will aim to prove their win wasn’t a fluke and continue their upward trajectory.

Complexity faces Eternal Fire in the other match. Complexity’s new roster hasn’t impressed so far, making this a good opportunity for Eternal Fire to secure a win. However, whoever advances will face tougher challenges, with Liquid and HEROIC likely to dominate this quartet.

Quartet 2

Astralis should have little trouble advancing from this group, despite their recent inconsistency. With this all star roster featuring Casper "cadiaN" Møller and Nicolai "dev1ce" Reedtz leading the team, they have the firepower and experience to outclass MIBR, FlyQuest, and 3DMAX.

MIBR struggled at BLAST Bounty, losing to FlyQuest in a surprising upset. FlyQuest, while showing promise, might still find it difficult to go beyond this stage. Astralis is the clear favorite here, but the fight for the second slot could get interesting.

Quartet 3

This group features teams that recently made roster changes. SAW appears to be the weakest link, struggling after their lineup shuffle. PaiN looks really promising after adding David "dav1deuS" Tapia and qualifying for the main stage of BLAST Bounty.

GamerLegion formed another promising roster, it looks balanced and really strong. Both additions in Fredrik "REZ" Sterner and Oldřich "PR" Nový can make this team fighting for the trophies. Virtus.pro’s inconsistent roster makes it hard to predict their performance, there are too many questions about the balance inside the team and the ability of Denis "electroNic" Sharipov to be a strong IGL. VP is unlikely to make it to the top 16.

Quartet 4

Imperial female enters the tournament as a massive underdog. While they performed admirably against NAVI at BLAST Bounty, the challenge here is much greater. FURIA, their first opponent, is unlikely to break a sweat in this matchup, considering the status of the tournament and it being thrown on LAN.

The most exciting match in this group is Wildcard vs. BIG. Wildcard recently won Frost and Fire Europe, defeating 9 Pandas in the final, and showed flashes of brilliance against Astralis at BLAST Bounty. BIG, while solid, will need to work hard to overcome Wildcard’s momentum. The Germans were close to defeating G2 at BLAST Bounty, but failed to keep the advantage. FURIA remains the favorite to top this group, but Wildcard could surprise everyone.

Group Stage Preview

The eight teams that qualify from the Play-In stage will join the top eight teams already seeded into the Group Stage based on Valve’s rankings.

Group A: G2, Falcons, Vitality, FaZe

This group features some of the biggest roster changes heading into 2025. G2, Falcons, Vitality, and FaZe all revamped their lineups, making this a must-watch group. Falcons’ new superteam, featuring Nikola "NiKo" Kovač, Emil "Magisk" Reif, and the core of HEROIC, is one of the most anticipated lineups in CS2.

FaZe will be looking to prove themselves after adding Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski to their roster. This is their first major LAN appearance with the new lineup, and fans are eager to see how quickly they can adapt. Vitality’s addition of Robin "ropz" Kool brings another layer of intrigue to this stacked group.

Group B: Spirit, NAVI, MOUZ, The MongolZ

Group B includes teams with stable rosters, like Spirit and NAVI, alongside squads with recent changes. Spirit and NAVI are the favorites, having avoided major roster shakeups.

MOUZ, however, is in a tricky position. With their captain Kamil "siuhy" Szkaradek unexpectedly leaving, they’ll play with academy player Adrian “xelex” Vincze at this event. This change significantly weakens their chances of advancing, so we shouldn't expect much from them before Lotan "Spinx" Giladi arrives as the final fifth. The MongolZ, while stable, aren’t yet strong enough to be considered serious contenders against the likes of Spirit and NAVI.
