CS2 Bots Mastery Guide: Training with AI in Counter-Strike 2

There are many ways to utilise counter-strike 2 AI opponents, whether it be mechanics or theory-crafting in a private game server, improving skills with CS2 bots is a must. However, not all players know how to go about this.

In this CS2 bot tutorial, we’ll show you all the ways in which you can use bots. But, first you’ll need to learn some of the console commands that will get you familiar with CS2 bot control, which you can do here.

Counter-Strike 2 bot match guide

One of the most simple and beginner-friendly CS2 bot training techniques is playing a standard match against bots. To do this you will need to click the play button at the top of the home screen and then click the practice and competitive buttons just below, after this you are free to choose a map.

Make sure to note the sliders on the left that control the settings of the match. Then comes the last step of choosing your CS2 bot difficulty levels with the command console. There are four difficulty settings in counter-strike 2 with expert bots being the highest and passive bots being the lowest. Once you have found what bot gameplay mechanics in CS2 you’re comfortable with, you’re good to go.

Theory-crafting

Many professional players spend time on the server trying to find the latest counter-strike 2 tips using bots. All sorts of wall bangs, lineups, and boosts have been found from this tinkering. To follow in pro footsteps you’ll need to know a few specific Counter-Strike 2 bot commands. You’ll need to know the console commands for adding bots, kicking bots, and placing bots. But, before you rush into a server, remember to turn on the bottom three sliders on the left side of the play screen to ensure the best practice settings.

Why you should train with bots in CS2

Although there are many ways to train in CS2 including Deathmatch, 1v1, KZ, and spray control; bots can be your best friend when it comes to getting the basics down.

Difficulty settings allow you to slowly raise the level of the opponent you are facing, and facing bots can be a much friendlier entrance to the game than going straight into matchmaking. As well as this, you can also practice certain peeks and wallbangs by placing bots in specific places and learning where to pre-aim when trying to kill enemies in these ways.

For more experienced players - or just players willing to grind - there are also third-party sites that use bots to help you improve with more advanced CS2 bot play. Started by Counter-Strike legends Jonathan “EliGE” Jablonowski and Jacob “Pimp” Winneche, Refrag is just one of these sites. On Refrag you will find many different CS2 bot game modes that can train you in various situations you might encounter in-game. It is worth noting, however, that Refrag is a subscription-based service and will cost you money in order to play.

Although you can read the more detailed guide we linked above for a complete list of CS2 bot commands, if you prefer to not spend money on Refrag, here are the most important ones to get you started in private servers:

  • bot_kick - bot_kick <all> <t|ct> <type> <difficulty> <name> — Kicks out a specific bot or all bots matching the specified parameters.

Best CS2 bot Workshop maps

The next part of our CS2 bot guide will show you another way to train with bots in CS2. If you don’t want to pay for Refrag, you can still find effective tools for bots via CS2’s Steam Workshop.

The best Workshop map for practising with bots in CS2 is Aim Botz. Aim Botz is a classic Counter-Strike Workshop map commonly used for warming up. Although, this is not all you can do with Aim Botz in CS2. You can also use it to try out new guns versus bots, as well as work on flicks with the AWP and one-tapping.
