There isn't a day that goes by where League of Legends fans are not complaining about something that Riot has apparently messed up, and today is no different. LoL fans are still angry about the state of the new battle pass system in League of Legends for the new season, citing it as extremely slow and in some cases just not worth paying for as opposed to previous seasons.

Riot introduced some changes to how the battle pass system works in League of Legends. This coincides with the new themed seasons in which there will be two for the 2025 League of Legends calendar. The first season is a Noxus themed battle pass, featuring the Masque of the Black Rose skin line. What has been lost, however, is repeatable levels as well as Hextech chests, along with a tediously length pass.

LoL fans took to Reddit to express their displeasure with the new battle pass system in League of Legends, with the original poster stating "bought this last premium pass and regretted it. it sucks, never buying it again." According to those in the Reddit thread, they are unhappy because Riot proposed the changes to the battle pass as a good thing, but in reality, they simply gutted a lot of the content that you could get from the pass.

This definitely seems to be the case, as in the past, each battle pass would have its own shop, where you could earn a battle pass currency that you could use to spend on items such as orbs, keys, Hextech chests, and if you're really going for it, the Prestige Skin. Alternatively, you could get Mythic Essence, the special currency that is used to buy skins from the Mythic Shop, but now those are also stuck behind a paywall, as fans cannot get Mythic Essence from the battle pass anymore. "The old pass system offered 2x to 3x more value than the current pass," one player said. And they're not wrong, a lot of the loot you could get from the previous pass has been wiped out.
