Ubisoft Unveils New Operator Denari and Major Balance Changes in Y10S3

Ubisoft has officially unveiled Operation High Stakes — the third season of the tenth year of Rainbow Six Siege. The main character is the new defender, Denari, who is already being hailed as the most creative operator in the game's history. Alongside him, developers have introduced extensive balance adjustments that will significantly alter the established meta.

Denari — the first Swiss defender

Denari is a defender focused on space control and delaying attacks. His unique gadget, T.R.I.P Connectors, creates laser connections between two points. These lasers not only deal damage and slow down attackers but also destroy their gadgets, turning the map into a dangerous field filled with traps.

Denari has seven such devices, and players can use them for creative setups: blocking corridors, staircases, or creating entire "laser grids." This isn't a stealth mechanic — the lasers are visible and noisy, but that's precisely their strength: they force attackers to expend resources and change routes.

Denari's arsenal includes the Scorpion EVO3, FMG-9, and a new secondary shotgun, the Glaive 12, which fires powerful slugs. The shotgun is perfect for breaching walls and opening new lines of fire under the Trip Connectors. Additional gadgets include a Deployable Shield and Observation Blocker. In terms of attributes, he is fast and mobile: 3 speed, 1 armor.

Ubisoft emphasizes that Denari is an operator for creative players. He pairs well with defenders like Jäger, Wamai, Mute, Mozzie, Azami, and is countered by IQ, Twitch, Brava, and EMP.

Balance changes: shields, sights, and weapons

Alongside Denari, the game has received extensive adjustments:

  • Magnified sights are being removed from defenders who don't have DMRs or slug shotguns. This affects Doc, Rook, Frost, Tachanka, Castle, and Echo. As compensation, Echo receives a speed bonus.
  • The Reaper MK2 has become more stable — developers have significantly reduced its recoil. Additionally, this weapon is now available not only to Rauora but also to Ying, Oryx, Pulse, and Sledge.
  • Changes have also affected recruits: Striker is now armed with the SR25, and Sentry with the TCSG-12.
  • Blackbeard's shield has been significantly reworked: his gadgets have become more limited, and the operator is more vulnerable in certain situations, such as when throwing utility with the shield raised or during a rappel.

These tweaks directly impact the meta: defenders lose highly anticipated sights, and the Reaper MK2 becomes one of the most accessible and convenient weapons for attackers.

With the release of Denari, the popularity of counter operators may increase: Jäger, Wamai, Mute, and Mozzie will become even more in demand, as they can help block Twitch drones, Brava, and EMP.

When to expect

The test server for Operation High Stakes will open on August 18, with the full release set for September 2. Ubisoft promises to publish full designer notes and patch notes closer to the release.

High Stakes is a season that not only adds a new operator but also changes the foundation of the game. Denari introduces an entirely new type of gameplay for defenders, and the balance tweaks promise to shake up the meta and push players to find new approaches. For Siege, this isn't just another season but one of those rare moments when the game receives a fresh impulse and direction for future development.
