Gold in World of Warcraft Classic is the main and most valuable resource that allows a player to provide themselves with most of everything they need: from materials and various consumables to high-level equipment that people sell at auction. Having a large amount of gold guarantees that you will be able to access the necessary items and services, which will help you level up your character faster: learn and improve abilities from a class trainer, re-learn the talent tree, make your build more perfect, and so on. Therefore, players, especially newcomers, face not only the question of how to farm gold in WoW, but also how to do it correctly, quickly, and most importantly, efficiently.
Killing mobs and completing quests
The most obvious and easiest way to get raw gold is by completing quests and killing mobs, which are essentially the basis of the entire World of Warcraft gameplay. The amount of reward (gold) depends on the complexity of the task the level of the mob and its location. Initial locations and enemies will give you a certain amount of silver coins. Visiting new locations and killing higher-level mobs, you will be rewarded with silver coins, and later, in some places, gold coins. The profitability in WoW Classic is lower than in WoW Retail due to the different economic balance.
Group farming
A good option is to play World of Warcraft with friends. The process of killing mobs, bosses, and completing quests will be much faster. By cooperating, you will be able to support each other, increasing your survivability, and at the same time gain experience points, gold, and items that can be sold.
Selling unwanted items
While completing quests and just running around locations, farming mobs, your inventory will often be 100% full of all kinds of junk. Selling unnecessary items is one of the main and most effective ways to earn gold in World of Warcraft Classic. Usually, the process of selling unnecessary materials is easy, because such items have a coin mark on them, and game NPCs have the function of automatically selling junk.
The rest of the items have to be sorted out by yourself, see what you need and what you don't. If you are wearing the best equipment, then extra weapons, clothes, and trinkets can also be sold without hesitation. Some items can be more problematic because you never know when and what item you will need. For example, you'll often find a Waylaid Supplies item that you need to complete some item-gathering quests, and you'll be rewarded with gold for doing so. However, you won't be able to do this in the early stages, as the necessary components won't be in the initial locations. But there's no point in carrying these boxes around, as they take up space. Therefore, you can also sell them and get a few silver ones, which is also quite profitable at the initial stages.
Over time, when you find more favourable spots with enemies, you can farm a specific type of resource and earn gold exclusively from it, for example, by selling Spider's Silk, Arcane Crystal, Felcloth, or Righteous Orb.
You can also speculate by buying an item at a lower price, processing it, and selling it at a higher price. For example, you can do this with the fabric used to create bandages. After all, by buying the fabric, making bandages out of it, and selling them, you will earn money from the margin (the difference between the price of the fabric and the price of the bandage).
How to make money from professions
In World of Warcraft Classic, the hero's professions play a significant part in the gameplay, important at any time and in any phase. Some professions are great for providing you with everything you need to complete PvE or PvP content. But also some professions are very good for earning some gold. Some professions are better than others in this regard, and therefore can be placed in the following rank order:
- S-Tier: Tanning
- A-Tier: Alchemy, herbalism, mining
- B-Tier: Leather goods
- C-Tier: Enchantment, engineering
- D-Tier: Sewing, blacksmithing
Each of these professions brings in more income over time as your skills grow and you can create more items for sale that players will be interested in buying from you. This will be more relevant for high-level players, but even at the initial levels, you can make money here. The most successful professions will be gathering professions: tanning, herbalism, and mining. Thanks to them, you can collect various ores, herbs, and skins of dead creatures (except for humanoids), which you can simply take and sell to a regular NPC trader.
Leatherworking is still the most appropriate, because travelling around Azeroth, completing dozens of quests and just levelling up, you kill hundreds of mobs from which you can remove the skin and use it for crafting purposes, or as it was said, just sell it. The most important thing in this case is to have enough free space in your inventory, and for this you need bags. And here, surprisingly, we are again saved by leatherworking and leather goods, because with these professions you can create an additional bag for yourself.
Fishing and cooking are also a promising way to get gold, though it is more costly, mainly in terms of time and resources. However, if you are tired of the constant battle with mobs and want to relax more, then this way of playing and earning money will suit you. You will have to create different dishes that you can sell to players or NPCs for a pretty good amount, especially in large quantities.
Saving gold
As strange as it may sound, saving is also a kind of farming process. After all, the irrational actions of the player lead to a significant share of gold loss. First of all, we are talking about equipment repairs and necessary purchases. Preserving the integrity of equipment is a necessity to be able to survive and fight mobs, but repairing heavily worn equipment costs a little of your coins. And the greatest wear and tear is caused by the death of a hero. Therefore, to save money, try to die less: do not fight several enemies at once, do not go into dungeons alone, feel the complexity of the location, and avoid those mobs that are more difficult for you at the current level.
Also, be careful when selling or buying equipment or other items. Make sure that you need them and that they fit the parameters. If you buy a very expensive item and then it turns out that you don't need it, you won't be able to return its full cost, or even half of it, which will be very unpleasant.
Auction
At an auction, people mostly trade with each other, usually, there are high-value and very expensive items, but there are also cheaper trinkets. If you manage to find some interesting items that you don't need, but will definitely suit other players. In the beginning, you won't have a lot of such items, but you will have some resources or materials that will be of interest to the players. And over time, as your finds become more fascinating and your items more unique, they will have a higher value.
