YEKINDAR: "I will still be the captain, and daps will take on this role in CS2."

Liquid player Mareks "YEKINDAR" Galinskis, in an interview with BLAST before the start of the match against Forsaken, said that despite previous statements, he is still performing the role of captain at BLAST Premier: Fall American Showdown 2023, which is supposed to be the last CS:GO tournament.

Team coach Damian "daps" Steele, who replaced Alex "Rainwaker" Petrov, will become the captain when Liquid starts playing in Counter-Strike 2. Currently, the Canadian is simply assisting YEKINDAR.

Basically, we came to the conclusion that I'm still going to be IGLing, but at the same time, Damian is going to be chipping in and picking up some of the responsibilities, and later on, when CS2 is coming out, then he would completely take over.

It is still unknown whether Liquid will debut in Counter-Strike 2 this year. The team will not participate in any of the planned tournaments, but on some of them, the full roster of participants has not yet been announced. Liquid was supposed to play at the CS2 Asia Championships 2023, but due to visa issues, they had to withdraw from the event. Ninjas in Pyjamas will replace the team in Shanghai.
